Problems With Launchbrowser 1.8
« Reply #30 on: April 26, 2006, 06:22:00 PM »

Yahoo did recently lower the quality of the video streams for non DSL users to 300k and reserved the 700k for them. Wasn't there an option in the script for the stream quality? Maybe it's set to something that isn't accessable anymore.

Hi,
I am the developer of LaunchBrowser. There still seems to be a problem with the version of mplayer XBMC is using. I would recommend upgrading to the latest version of XBMC and using V1.9 of the script as most videos seem to be working again and for the ones that are not there is a workaround. I have written an application called StreamPodder. You can find it at http://www.StreamPodder.com. Its a program that downloads streams to your PC and can then be accessed from LaunchBrowser. You can manaully add streams in StreamPodder or you can add downloads directly from the script. There are instructions on how to setup StreamPodder and to get LaunchBrowser talking to StreamPodder. The Podder name might also tell you something about what the application can do. For any of ye with video iPods StreamPodder can convert the files for playback on an iPod. This application is not limited to Launch and will hopefully be expanded to serve other duties and serve as a way of getting video content off sites that do not provide video casts. For now though its good enough to be able to download music videos. LaunchBrowser will automatically give StreamPodder the high quality link so you can always have the best quality music videos. There is a tutorial on downloading these music vids with StreamPodder at http://www.geocities...reampodder.html or you can just click the Download button in LaunchBrowser. The script does not seem to be on xbmcscripts.com yet so you can grab it here.  http://www.geocities...BrowserV1.9.zip . Have fun.

biggrin.gif  Thanks bogorman!! Workd like a champ again... I haven't had to get into the StreamPodder stuff yet since my links are all working so far... some of them took a little bit longer than usual but it may be that my cache needs adjusted in XBMC. I am glad you took the time to get this going and also provided a workaround... excellent job!!!

Anyone have any suggestions on cache size configs, so these don't take to long to load but also don't have to buffer too much either?

I was using the new LaunchBrowser last night and noticed that all the videos that I watched were 300k streams instead of 700k streams (the quality was hideous).

Is there currently anyway to get the 700k streams?

I have SBC DSL, so would there be a way for those of us that have sbc dsl to "login" and get 700k streams, etc??

Good job, this works great. I have found one issue, when I go into my downoads I cannot play all as the menu suggests. I can play the videos one at a time without a problem. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Hi.
If you edit the config.xml file for the launchborwser you can choose the 700k stream.
Cheers

Dont know why this would happen. I have never seen this before.
Is this happening on all videos. Maybe upgrade XBMC if its an older version

Think this may be a bug. I'll look into it.
Cheers.

Hello there.

I have the last update of XBMC (may 28) and launchbrowser 1.9.  Most video I select say "Resolving (server)... Connecting to server (server)..." and then it goes back to the video list...

Any idea?

Thanks.

Bump! Any updates on those using LaunchBrowser? Some of the usual places don't carry it, so I'm wondering if most have given up on it?
How bout LaunchBrowser w/StreamPodder, is anyone getting it to work? I tried several times and no go. Will give a run again and see what happens. I love this script. I just wondered since the Developer had said it was an issue with Mplayer, would it work with an older version of xbmc? Or am I just reaching?
