Xbmc Wireless Connectivity Problems
« on: January 02, 2006, 03:13:00 AM »

I may be completely in left field here, but here goes.

I have a Netgear WGE-111 installed internally into my XBOX.  It is being powered by the XBOX P/S, so when I turn the XBOX off, the wireless adapter turns off. I currently have the 2005-12-25 build of XBMC installed.

Problem:

When I turn on my XBOX, and the wireless card runs through it's diagnostics, XBMC fully loads without acquiring a network address from my wireless router.  I have to go into the Information section of XBMC to the Network info tab and force it to resolve again during the autodetect process, or go into 'My Files' and run the default.xbe file to resolve the address again.

Question:

Is there a way to prolong the startup sequence so that XBMC resolves and network address through DHCP, or is there a way to speed up the process?  Any suggestions would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

I know this may sound silly since you may have already thought of it but, why not just use a dashboard, so that by the time you boot XBMC there is already an IP assigned?

just a thought
