Dash Launch v2.03
Posted by XanTium | November 11 13:47 EST | News Category: Xbox360

cOz released a new version of Dash Launch, now compatible with the 12611 dashboard in which JTAG-able 360s can now reboot into with fbBuild 0.1 (freeBOOT v0.04):
Quote

* At time of this writing, this is ONLY compatible with "freeBOOT" 12611 read info_launch.ini for info on options and setting launch parameters.
* This a core rewrite, major changes were done to the paths used in the ini file, the installer can update these for you if you have the old ini files accessible at the time of install. See the inlcuded sample ini files.
* The installer is now much more robust, and can even flash the appropriate patches to your console for you, all that is required is that you have installed freeboot 12611

Overview - what it does
- It will launch a XeX or CON file from the path you specified in launch.ini as long as it's valid
- Depending on the button you hold when the xbox is trying to load the NXE, it will divert to the xex/con tied to that button or return to default as defined in launch.ini
- Depending which button is held when closing miniblade in NXE (use Y button to close, release then hold a QL button) it will quick launch a CON or XEX from your ini file
- allows one to patch kernel/xam at bootup with a freeBOOT patch style bin file from usb or hdd (in that order) must be in root of the device and be named "kxam.patch" and be no larger than 0x4000 bytes. Again, kxam.patch binary format is the same as a compiled freeboot patch bin, but uses real virtual addresses rather than offsets - see 1.0 release for a windows patch builder
- with the included patch set, launch.xex acts as a helper to detect when xbox1 emulator loads, allowing memory unlock patch and xbox1 emulator to function together

What's new/fixed:
* updated for 12611

That was extremely fast. Thanks a lot. Just installed the newest version of FreeBOOT about an hour ago. Time to try this out.

I remember some time ago I followed the instructions and changed my nand flash with xbreboot plus jtaged my xbox and I dont have any idea about freeboot, I have just heard it needs some hardware mods and its more stable even though I dont have any stability  problems with my xbreboot, Now That i want to have the new dashboard am I able to upgrade my xbreboot or these are only for freeboot which requires hardware mods( I dont mean Jtag)?????

New freeboot doesn't require hardware mods. If you want new dashboard you must build new nand image with fbBuild 0.1 and flash to your nand.

Awesome, works great!

FSD does not say "system link patched" however, is that because FSD can't find this in the memory anymore because it's in a different location now or is it because patches don't work in this version? The "Y" to return to FSD still works great so I guess current FSD simply can't read this out smile.gif.

Also I got the message latest patches are already included during install in my fbBuild built NAND, is that because they really are in there already or because they're not included with Dash Launch 2.0.3?

Honestly I never really understood what patches meant btw. Should I see them as updates? Because then it would be fully understandable that patches are already included (as my NAND is newly build and patches are to come later with newer versions of Dash Launch).

Thanks again for your great work, it's much appreciated!

apparently kinect games call to the dash right before starting. you can leave dashlaunch in place and just when you select the game then hold rb till game starts. maybe this can be fixed similar to the way they fixed the system settings, video, music etc from the guide button. but this works for now.

Do I still have to apply the "Ping removal patch" seperately or is everything included with this release?

I never installed this before and trying to figure out how to do so while including the ping removal..

Thank you..

BTW I did successfully update dashboard with fbbuild 0.1

Dash Launch has the ping patch built in... you just have to enable it in the launch.ini... so you don't need the kxam.patch file anymore... also the current freestyledash doesn't detect the ping patch, but it still works just fine...

Another thing: is it possible to flash a NAND with a clean KV and go online for MW2 and maybe Black Ops hosting? I'm not interested in hosting myself but I would like to know if I can sell my KV's again smile.gif!

Anyone tested this? If so, how long did the KV last?

Where is the NXE Dashboard's XEX? For setting a quicklaunch button to jump to the stock dashboard from FSD2.

Hi!

I updated my freeboot with freeBOOT 12611. It is working perfectly.
Now I want to update my 1.0dashlaunch with the newest dash launch 2.03 but when I start with the default.xex then A it is say you don't need uptade because you have launch.xex and ihelper.xex in the flash.
What can I do with this? How can I install it?
What is the patches_....bin for it?

Thank You!
