Posted by XanTium | September 27 22:04 EST | News Category: Xbox360

cOz released a new version of Dash Launch for homebrew 360s.

What's new/fixed:
* consider this a beta as we still have no clue why some ini issues occur*
- added version info to data struct exported at ordinal 1
- made number of times button holds are scanned variable, longer window at boot time to sync controller and hold a button
- added region spoofing for XGetGameRegion
- DVD video play from NXE now plays DVD regardless of default setting

Official Site: n/a, by cOz
Download: n/a (built with XDK)

Thanx again for working on this vital JTAG-box component that makes things that much better.

That said: Dashlaunch has a number of 'issues' , Although I haven't tried out any of the newer versions (2.0 onwards) I can only assume there are still some existing issues as I haven't read anything in the changelogs. I've noticed that UsbMu's seem to often mount as USB: (Going by the cygnos serial output) And this makes sense to what happens if u have USB and USBmu at the same time. Also I and others have noticed some other intermittent issues which have only been experienced since 9199/DashLaunch 1.0 and don't seem to occur as much without the flashinstaller having flashed the info on there (Eg; 360 shuts down for no apparent issue etc..) Obviously a lot of these issues have little or nothing to do with dashlaunch, but I thought seeing as you were working on it again, that I would try and compile some sort of fault log (If only a short one) having confirmed the fault exists on the newer version (whenever it gets posted in the usual place - Haven't seen it there yet)

I'll try make this easy for you...

v2.02
- added version info to data struct exported at ordinal 1
- made number of times button holds are scanned variable, longer window
at boot time to sync controller and hold a button
- added region spoofing for XGetGameRegion
- DVD video play from NXE now plays DVD regardless of default setting

v2.01
- corrected flash mu mount point (thanks Antho02 at l-s)
- added kernel version check to installer as some xbr using folks seem incapable
of reading the first line of this file

v2.0
- plugins now use logical paths just like quick launch buttons
- option subvert Y to exit miniblade while in NXE to load button/default (fixed)
- added common (9199) content and ping limit patches as options
- mostly runs in system threads, startup completes while bootanim runs
- completely subverted dash.xex, no more CD issues or NXE split seconds

- removed insistance on 0/1/2 paths and reliance on CaPs to detect
- return to NXE via miniblade for system settings and others works w/o using RB
- added big block NAND mu as possible device
- optionally subvert Y to exit miniblade while in NXE to load button/default
- added xell loader to patch set and included a xex to load xell
- removed reboot on fatal error from patches
- included reboot/shutdown on fatal error as settings

- installer onscreen output cleaned up, now shuts down console at end of install
- added ini file updater to installer
- added patch updater to installer

The bold ones pretty much cover the bugs you just mentioned. Your previous problems were noted and could not be covered by a 'bug fix release' to 1.0. Unlike some folks who tend to misuse version numbers, going from 1.0 to 2.0 in this case denotes a major code change... give 2.02 a go and I'd bet you will be pleased (unless you are one of the very rare folks who run into ini parsing issues (link).)

Same situation here, I'd literally just flashed 2.01 (over 1.0) when I saw my RSS update with 2.02.

Glad to see updates coming though, DL seems more stable smile.gif

Fair enough, I perhaps should have read over the changelog a little more carefully. - Sorry

I've been following the parsing issues as I/we have had some1 report issues with (it) previously also (We like to play around quite a bit with DL since ur first release but I can't say 4sure if there is any sort of genuine issue with parsing as I haven't been able to replicate either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  as was said before, it could be a case of user had one file in ANSI and one in UTF-8 and was clicking save - as opposed to save as in UTF-8 ? I suspect some OS's as defaulting to unicode or ANSI unless otherwise specified everytime - might depend on editor etc..)

I don't know if this is relevant (to anything) but : I've had ppl claiming that ini's are(or can be?) case sensitive , I haven't taken the time to investigate that claim though - I recommend ppl cut and paste paths to save drama arising from typos etc ..

Anyway - Cheers guys, If you need any help testing on any variety of console eg; Cygnos V2 (Unique probs seem to sometimes occur on cygnos for some strange reason - SMC perhaps ..) Then let us know. Now alls I need is somewhere to get the new version ... .. .

Brgds/Dan

Ok, I hate to sound like a newbie, but I launched the installer (seems like it installed/updated the launch.xex and lhelper.xex on the flash). And then I copied over a launch.ini to the usb containing this...

"Default = Usb:\Freestyle\default.xex"

I am sure I am missing something stupid simple as to why it isn't booting correctly, but what is it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Btw, this is on a jasper 256...

Thanks in advance!

I'm still hoping someone will upload a (zipped in case the transfer site tries to do a text file transfer instead of bin) sample of a problem ini (where they have to use hdd1: instead of hdd: or similar.) As to where to find it... it's definitely in "the usual places" if one looks to things like development and system apps (or simply does a site search for launch as the MOTD suggests you do.)

burritoboy9984:
what you seem to want is a launch.ini with only this in it
CODE
[QuickLaunchButtons]
Default = Usb:\Freestyle\default.xex

No quotes, no nothing; see sample_launch.ini and info_launch.ini included to describe syntax... yes I know, it requires actually reading but if you don't you miss things like
QUOTE
; all comments and fields in this file are optional, you can remove anything you don't need - section headers []
; are required for any used options under the section

I don't have the quotes inside the file, I was just trying to show the part I had in the file... I did miss the section header part smile.gif Will try and report back smile.gif

Edit: Thx, got it smile.gif Knew it was something simple smile.gif

It fucks up Xexmenu here completely. When i try to start it out of NXE or miniblade the console shuts down. V2.01 worked properly.
