It says it will bypas NEW REGION LOCKS. Maybe microshit uses some other code for the region lock or something. I will try with the game he tried it with. I have a pal console. I will try the NTSC version without and with the patch. Ill upate.

EDIT: Cant find a NTSC version of the game.

Some Jap/US/other games are already region free(Also some regions are deliberately deregulated).. Normally with region locked disc (M$ has it's own codes that allow region locking to a specific country - see AGBX - Most MS games these days are) One has to rip it and let the xextool style patching that FSD/Xexmenu does patches region lock at the same time as the other patches and then run off the Hdd/USB. Some dash apps don't do it properly and have to have the default.xex patched manually with xextool. This will allow ISO/DVD/NXE-Ripped GODs to be run the same as the xbox1 emulator does (transparently)
One should never have to go to the length of patching a KV (Unless all ur titles are under ONE other region AND  you have a Xenon OR don't mind trying to run older games on XBR (That don't demand update etc ..)

I always install and FTP via ISO2GoD and I run PAL games all the time on my NTSC/U JTAG'd boxes. Funny things happen very rarely but luckily nothing to do with PAL vs NTSC (which might cause timing issues) because I use Component or HDMI (normally you would just get a black screen if something attempted PAL on an NTSC TV in the US; find me one  that supports PAL!).

I suppose ISO2GoD does do the region patching as it creates the package, which is awesome. No, I cannot run iXtreme-compatible PAL games via the dashboard either. One thing I have not tried is burning the game files to disc like normal unpatched. I suppose this is where I would run into the 360 stating that the binary is not region-free.

When I say strange things (PAL on NTSC), one good example is Dancing Stage Universe (PAL) vs Dance Dance Revolution Universe (NTSC). If I run DS Universe from XM360, DS Universe does run a detection of my console's region then all of a sudden the game is in NTSC mode and the logos, and even the song selection changes (due to licensing). XM360 does some sort of auto-patching it seems. I know it's running PAL if it says 'This game is licensed for Europe only' in one of the starting graphics. If run from the dashboard, works fine whether it's off a disc or my HDD. Again, the more likely reason I do not see black is due to usage of non-AV cables. On an 'old TV', I might see black in attempting to run DS Universe. Not sure yet, haven't tried (and I don't want/need to).

Just in case you are wondering also, timing is NOT affected at all in DS Universe when played on NTSC console, which is awesome in comparison to the PS2 days of running PAL games (with auto-patch via modchip or manually applied patch via VFIX).

All the Japanese games I've tried have worked (MOST Japanese titles are NOT region-free), including Strike Witches as raw files (don't know if the XEX was patched), not a GoD package.

100% agreed. Not risking my NANDs for this.

this is a new one not one single game have i ran into problems with region but i am on a pal console and 99% of tvs in uk run in ntsc mode so think its only ntsc consoles that suffer dash 9199 as already got a region free patch built in plus you can edit your nand config to region free too think this is for dvd videos thou but unsure on that

but it looks like its just ntsc consoles that are affected for this patch to get released as i don't have this issue touch wood i never will (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm trying Quantum Theory really soon then. I had no problems with any other PAL games, so let's see if this one is problematic.

From the author (cOz):
QUOTE
Basically freeboot currently has a patch in hypervisor to bypass the xex header region check, but this does nothing to the console's actual region it just avoids having to patch the xex header itself to be region free (thus any region executable will run.)

Something that has always been present though is the ability to, from code, ask the kernel/xam what region the console is... which is an issue with Quantum Theory as it uses this region query to select resources which aren't present on the disk for out-of-region.

This plugin will not be required for long, a bugfix for dash launch to correct a couple more obscure problems will see the addition of a setting (you choose the hex value) and a toggle/button to hold when you want to spoof the game region for a single game launch.

So as far as that all goes, this plugin isn't going to be touching keyvault at all... not sure where that idea came from.

I can't understand the need for this. Freeboot 0.032 itself removes all Region related limitations, and makes the Xbox360 itself Region Free....
