How Do I Get My System To Read A .xex File?
« on: August 23, 2010, 09:40:00 AM »

Ok, so I acquired a .rar (.r00, .r01, etc) file, and extracted the files using WINRAR.  From there, I was left with a few files-

3 folders:

bink (includes 2 .bik files)
maps (includes .maps, as well as 3 folders- fonts [contains .bin], images [contains .blf], info [contains .mapinfo)
waves (includes 2 .dll files)

As well as these 5 files:

AvatarAssetPack (file?)
AvatarAwards (file?)
default.xex
nxeart (file?)
waveShell-Xbox.dll
wavesLibDLL.dll

I do not know what to do with these.  Do I burn them to a disk?  Do I load them on a USB?  Does my 360 need to be modded to read these?  Do I just need to flash my DVD drive, or JTag my entire xbox?  What would be the easiest way of going about this?  What programs or utilities would I use?  I'm pretty new to the 360 modding scene, but I did mod with xbox original.  It's been awhile, but I should be familiar with terminology.  Also, how do these files work together?  I'm guessing the system would launch the "default.xex" which would then work with all the other files.  I'm just hoping I came to the right place.

P.S. I would like to keep the name of this game confidential, so please lets just remain technical.

I tried to google around, but I couldn't come across any solid answers.  I did run into something called "XEXLoader" on youtube, but there was no tutorial or anything.  It didn't say anything about whether to jtag or just flash or anything.

p.s. -  lies and slander.

xexloader requires a jtag. but if you are simply trying to load your "backups" you can flash the drive and burn the games correctly following tutorials found all over.

Nothing was said about pirating reach or any game.  As far as I am aware, talk of piracy is against forum policy, so let's stray away from that topic.  I am just trying to find a way to launch the program I have, and I was in need of wondering if I need to include all the files listed above, and what I would do with them.  Looks like I'm headed out to my GameStop today and grabbing a used 360 to flash.  Dont wanna ruin my pretty red 360.  I'm still a little confused though about how I'm gonna go about all this, but I guess I'll wing it.

1 Yes piracy is against forums rules but anyone with a brian knows the files you posted are the reach extracted files. Which is against forums rules.
2 As for running files like that you need a jtaged xbox.
3 You will not be able to go to gamestop and find a jtaggable xbox. Use google to find the requirements of jtgging a xbox.
4 If you ever do get a jtagged xbox yes you need all the files from a ripped game that you OWN

Hope that answers most of your question.

anyone can see you are trying to burn the reach files.

also, dont try and cover it up with vague statements like "program i have" how exactly did you come to "have" this program?

and last i checked ripping a 360 game does not produce a set of rar files...

but guess what does!
ill give ya one guess  happy.gif

Put your retail game disk in the drive and load freestyle dash. Go to the copy game to hard drive option and select the drive and path you want the game to be copied to. Site back and wait for it to finish. Load game and enjoy.

End of discussion.
