any ideas why it is taking forever to scan for me? please note this is NOT the first time i've scanned...my fsd2content.xml has been there. i also didn't add a lot of things to it between runs.

this has finished in 1 minute before, but this time it took 16!! minutes to scan.

debug.log:
http://pastebin.com/Ga3jjNea

Does it do this everytime now?
as far as i can see it looks like something is wrong with the filesystem,
it is detecting folders as files, and therefor its trying to open a lot more
to see if its a game or not.

well i didn't change the filesystem but i deleted all of my 360 profiles and saves, removed all settings, skins, etc and its down to 45 seconds as it is about on my other box. so i would say all is well now smile.gif. i'm still not sure why it would do that though...

Not sure where to post FSD2 related questions/requests, since there are two newer topics about it.

But how about a utility that erases all of your unnecessary save data? For example, you install and erase games/apps, but you still have their save data in content\0000000000000000 folder (and also in fsd2data/GameData folder).
It's not really a problem, since they are near zero in size, but it would still be nice to get rid of them, you know :]

And yes, you can manualy erase them, but sometimes they have unrelated names, so you can't find them.

Use NXE. It does this wonderfully.

I have one annoying problem in fsd2.0. When i try to upload something to the 360 hdd it cant make any folders and because of that i need to make them by hand. Using filezilla. Anyone else having this problem?

I have a lot of ppl asking me if FSD 2.0 is going to allow them to arrange their own preview/thumbnail etc.. pics for boxes that have games from multiple regions, offline boxes etc.. (Like FSD 1.2 has that editor ..)

Any chance of getting it on there for the often donuting public ????

Is there a way to prevent FSD from scanning for content every time it's launched?

It's a real pain in the ass having to sit there for a few minutes while it scans, until I can finally go into any of my folders.

Remove the paths from your config.xml after it scans once.

is there a way to manually up date the list after we remove it from the config? Or will we have to re add it everytime we add games, update, etc?

yes that's a thing I don't like in fsd 2.0. In fsd 1.x you had the scanning at the beginning which was much faster than the scanning now. I think it has something to do with the auto image fetching and so on.

Would be nice if they could make it faster and indicate that it's still scanning. It's really annoying to wait press A ("not finished scanning") and hitting it regularly again until it works.
A better way would be to give access to the game list while still scanning. If a new game was found you could then update the list or tell the person that new games (or information in any form) are available and he needs to go in the list again to see them ... something like that.

You would have to re add them. There isn't much anything else you can do to stop it scanning. Hopefully they will have another release soon that is faster.

Thank you! It's still a little slow loading the XML file, but it's a little more tolerable.

I was thinking about that while waiting for it to load. It would be a nice feature/option to be able to manually update your content file from the settings menu or something.

All the slow scanning issues have been fixed in the latest builds. Next release is no less than ~a month away, but the wait should be worth it.
