Opening the console is not an issue, for this. The idea would be to use a 360 to flash drives - not to simply update it's own f/w. Maybe if it's possible, someone will one day make an app that could support unlocking drives as jungleflasher does.

I'm not sure how the southbridge would work out... when I get a chance to test this, I'll post any results, though.

you cant use dosbox for that, its a emulator, you dont have direct hardware access to anything outside the emulated system from the emulated system, so you cant flash the DVD-Drive, as the access to it is also just emulated. so.. NO WAY.
i think the only real solution for this would be to flash the drive from linux, as it is the only way to have to trugh access to all the hardware in the 360

Thx guys for yet another release. Your hard work isnt appreciated enuf. Even the smallest apps or emus lead to much bigger things. If you could plz post if you have other projects in the works. There isnt enuf hype in the scene right now because teams are dropping apps and what not without any promotions.
More Hype = More Motivation which in turn = Better Homebrew

Example would be what if a team confirmed now that they had dreamcast games running in alpha. The scene would go crazy. Other devs would take notice and ofcourse try something grand aswell.

Appreciation comes in a lot of different ways (Donations, Helping us out, Idling in are IRC room, and just being fans of are work). I personal disagree with you though on the hype aspect of it though. Hype just leads to pressure being put on developers and sometimes false hope that something will work or even come out.

Are current projects are focused on finishing out XeBoy Advance with support for GB, GBC, and support for GBA. There's alot of work past just porting and the 360 is a complex system like no other. Each developer that works on the 360 is trying to achieve commercial grade applications and games that rival huge companies in comparison, but at the same we have normal day to day life, families, and some of even jobs. (I'm currently unemployed so most of my money for living comes from the government and donations).

We also have plans to finish XeDOSBox, but decided to release the source code to hopefully releave some of the pressure of trying to fix everything myself. I'm the only programmer for Team XeLove so I easily have my work cut out for me on a daily bases.

Other plans for the future are a N64 emulator and helping the rapidly development of the FreeStyleDash.

In no way am I complaining though as I have loved every moment since I've joined the Xbox homebrew scene.

I tried some games:

Commander Keen 4 = perfect
Hocus Pocus = perfect
Rayman = loadtimes slow, ingame good.
Death Rally = doesnt work, hangs dosbox

Good work for a first release, maybe in the next release also support for apple keyboard (my crtl and alt buttons are not working)

Thanks a lot for sharing your results. The crtl/alt/shift issues is know and will be fixed in the next release and hopefully the other bugs that are causing crashes.

JungleFlasher and everything else like that are not DOS programs, aka 16bit programs. Just because they run in a console doesn't mean they are actually DOS programs. If you are unsure if a program will ever be supported in XeDOSBox then simple download the official DOSBox and try to get it to run on it. If it doesn't work in DOSBox then it won't work in XeDOSBox.

What the status of MAME360 anyway or any MAME emu for the 360?  I'm not that knowledgeable on how porting and coding for emulators but I'm wondering how hard it is to update it(which I'm sure is difficult without the right resources).

It's great to see someone porting emulators for the 360 though.  Would definitely pay/donate some money for a MAME emu which I'd actually use.

Not to mention that XeDosBox does not have hardware access, as its an emulator...
I doubt that you could write an app to flash a 360 that is running on the hypervisor(or if you could it would be pointless anyway, as we already have 1000 programs for windows to flash the 360s drive)

Quick question about DosBox guys:

is sound supported in that app ? Or we have to wait for a build with
configurable general midi / SB emulation sound fx?

LoveMHz, thanks for this port, i sure won't get out anymore if i just
try all my DOS stuff archived from the past.

Is anyone else experiencing screen cropping? I am losing the a bit on every side, enough so that navigating DOS isn't really possible.

Anyone know how to fix this?

DOS outupts in VGA. are you using VGA or component/composite/HDMI?

It works fine with a VGA cable for me.

Also, I just tried running the Win98SE install. it locks up DosBox:

CODE

C:\SETUP>setup.exe
Please wait while setup initializes.

setup is now going to perform a routine check on your system.

To continue, press ENTER. To quit Setup, press ESC.

pushed ENTER and it froze there. I cant even exit with CTRL+C or BREAK

EDIT: 95 failed too. and win 3.1 says it ran out of disk space. any tips on installing 3.1?

Finally found my win3.11 dosbox system and sadly it doenst work, it crashes at the Windows 3.11 logo, maybe because it is configure to run at 1024x768 and thats not compatibe?
Hope this emu gets updated in the future as much is possible with it!

I also wanted windos 98/95/3.11, even better with tcp network support, like hal9000 version from here http://home.arcor.de/h-a-l-9000/
It has ne2000 network adapter card emulated, that can be used for win98 internet browsing.

Anyhow LoveMHz has done an amazing work  smile.gif

if you want internet browsing, use one of those linux disk... it works quite well, sadly no flash.
as for win95/98 support... yes you can get them to boot but its not really usable ans stable, dosbox is a dosemu, they are working on 3.1/11 support but i think they are not planning to get win9x fully working..

Yes, but it is better & faster to run a browser from dashboard.
Maybe someone will port some browser. I just want my xbox to replace my compter, all I need really  is a good browser and a good media player.... But maybe it won't happen for the xbox360.  wub.gif
