But...there's already a MAME emulator for the 360...

MAME360 is 2 years old and doesn't run a lot of games the current version of MAME does.

Awesome. I hope this eventually will allow me to play "Dark Legions" with my buddy through network on two jtags.

Wonder if I can use dosflash on this. I've always wanted to read/write the dvd drive's firmware with an actual 360, just for sport!

How are you going to get the drive into Vendor mode without opening the console? wink.gif

Plus you would need support for the 360 southbridge!

Thx guys for yet another release. Your hard work isnt appreciated enuf. Even the smallest apps or emus lead to much bigger things. If you could plz post if you have other projects in the works. There isnt enuf hype in the scene right now because teams are dropping apps and what not without any promotions.

More Hype = More Motivation which in turn = Better Homebrew

Example would be what if a team confirmed now that they had dreamcast games running in alpha. The scene would go crazy. Other devs would take notice and ofcourse try something grand aswell.

not likely to happen with so few jtag units in the wild, I just hope people think twice about accepting updates from live in the future, MS may well drop the ball yet again.... eyes peeled peeps biggrin.gif

ph34r.gif  Is Mame360 old for you? Dosbox emulates an old 386/486 system so good luck to even try to run an 0.34 mame version in this app (think is not fast enough even so).   I will test with Flashback and Command and conquer later =)

why emulate a emulator if you have a native port? sure its old, but emulateing a 486 to run an even older mame version..

That's why I was wondering. I know MAME switched to 32-bit some years back, though it's still command line based - I just didn't know if it would still run on "real" DOS. I haven't been following the development like I used to (religiously) about 10 years ago.

I tried some games:

Commander Keen 4 = perfect
Hocus Pocus = perfect
Rayman = loadtimes slow, ingame good.
Death Rally = doesnt work, hangs dosbox

Good work for a first release, maybe in the next release also support for apple keyboard (my crtl and alt buttons are not working)

It is possible to get Windows 3.1 to work on this. ! Atleast on a nokia 5800 and i think it dose work better with the 360. They have even got windows 98 to work.

the apps/games exit back to "dos" fine and typing exit kicks you back to Nxe dash

Ok sorry, there must be something obvious I'm not seeing. If you put exit in a .bat file, it just exits the that child process, and not the emu correct? Just not sure if "exit" in a .bat is the same as something similar to exit() or return();.

i may try Windows 3.11 later, i have a dosbox configured image lying arround somewhere, but without mouse support its a bit useless... smile.gif

About Win95 and Win98, you can get them working in dosbox but dont think about playing any advanced games, Dosbox is a Dos Emulator, so no support for directx or whatever...

Until now i have not tried many games, but im a bit dissapointed that Epic Pinball isnt working smile.gif atleast it crashed my xbox after starting a table.

Hope they get soon a version with onscreen keyboard working and a menu to sign keys or commands to the xbox controller smile.gif

anyway, great work!

Opening the console is not an issue, for this. The idea would be to use a 360 to flash drives - not to simply update it's own f/w. Maybe if it's possible, someone will one day make an app that could support unlocking drives as jungleflasher does.

I'm not sure how the southbridge would work out... when I get a chance to test this, I'll post any results, though.
