Just Asking..don't Shoot Me...mame360

Just asking..don't shoot me...Mame360..why has it been 3 years...and no development? what happened to the author? can't anyone improve upon it?

it seems such a waste when the 360 is a very powerful machine..and the emulator itself is very good..and it has amazing possibilties and along way to go...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)   A very powerful machine?  maybe a very powerful GPU yes, but it seems the CPU is not that fast and MAME relies only upon CPU speed...   I verified that games like Darius Gaiden and Mortal Kombat 2 slows down in Mame360, but my old 2.0 Ghz PC plays just fine these games.  I think the removal of the general processing unit from xbox360 CPU killed almost 80% of its original speed, so I think to run this emulator on xbox the gpu must help it someway to get decent speeds.

The reason why Mortal Kombat 2 is slow is because the Mame360 uses very very old Mame version (0.112 if i remember correctly) With latest mame ported it would work without any problems.

What? Some of BS on this board!

The 360 has an adaquatetly powerful triple core PowerPC CPU running at 3.2GHz - it has a through-put of 10Gb/s to a custom ATI Xenos GPU which actually has a running speed of 2x500Mhz (there are two chips working together).

The 360 is more than capable of running Mame via the CPU.

I have no idea what you mean by "I think the removal of the general processing unit from xbox360 CPU killed almost 80% of its original speed" - that just doesn't make sense at all. Do you mean Graphics Processing Unit? Killed 80% of it's original speed? What? You're just making this up!!

I've lurked here for almost a year now, but the amount of BS that isn't being corrected has forced me to do this!

Even if you don't know any technical aspects of the 360 or MAME this post just goes against any common sense.  You think a powerful GPU is all you need to play all the retail games out for any platform?  If you've ever installed a PC game or read the requirements on a box then you'd know the answer.  And you actually think consoles nowadays have CPU's weaker than a CPU from 10 years ago?  And just because something is being emulated doesn't mean it can't use other resources, such as the GPU, to help in the emulation.

But is the original MAME360 developer still anonymous today? (I'm going by the old news post back in 2007)  I'm sure if the original developer has stopped working on it someone else is or is trying to.  Would be great if we could get an update on the emu or some news.  The 360 would be a very powerful machine to use with MAME(plus, you wouldn't have to be tied to a PC).

The source was never released. You would have to start from scratch with the source from the latest Mame release
