But this would not work if you have to swap the disc on the fly without being able to save at the end of a disc, because if you exit the game to load the next image you would lose that progress to the end of disc 1.

mass effect 2 quick saved right b4 it asked you to swap disks, this might be the same

Thanks, at last some information about how a disc swap works in one game  smile.gif That would work, just would like to confirm that in FF 13 it also is handled like that and also wonder about Star Ocean and Blue Dragon.

Just to explain this a little further, the same problem people had in the past on the PSP when Sony released the 3.0 FW which game with a PS1 emulator. People found quickly a way in inject their own images in it and play games not available in the PS Store yet, however multi disc games where often a problem because of the disc swap. Games that allowed to save right at the end of the disc (for example FF 7) could be finished, however games that didn't allow that and you just had to swap the disc without exiting the game (for example Metal Gear Solid) where impossible to beat until disc swap was supported by the emulator.

Personally, I just copied all three DVDs into one folder, skipping pre-existing files. It's been running so far, no complaints. I haven't reached a disc change, though.

Wrong. In All Squaresoft RPG's you can ALWAYS load the last save you made before the end of the disk with the next disk inserted. So in FFXIII, you can load the save you make before you play the Snow-on-the-Beach flashback.

Oh, and to those promoting the "copy all into the same folder and overwrite" BS? Saying "it works on every game I've tried" - stop lying. It works with ME2 and that's the ONLY game it works with. You'll get to the disk change and I'll ask for the next disk. Oh, and the game is great - but the 576p BINK videos are atrocious :\

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey; neither work with the disc overwrite; they employ filenames that are identical on all discs and that have different filesizes - they'll both stuff up at the disk swap; or just ask for the next disk. ODST Disc 2 is just additional content for Halo 3. Magna Carta I haven't played, but given Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant etc don't work with this method it's a pretty fair bet that games that do are the exception and not the rule.

Extract each disc to its own folder, load the disc you want to play. Simple!
