Dash Launch v0.02
« Reply #15 on: March 03, 2010, 10:09:00 PM »

works like a charme now :-)

be4 version 0.02 the startup crashes if my freestyle boot disc was inserted, dunno why
(i deactivated the autostart in the NXE menu, but it wont boot ..)

with 0.02 it works like a dream now, and it boots much faster !
Big thanks for developing this, the homebrew is growing in the right direction (my old xbox 1  is in furhter use for viewing moviez. if it go further with our 360, my xbox1 is useless soon sad.gif .. biggrin.gif)

it were a really cool thing, if there were in the future the possibility like on xbox 1, to chose the dash on startup. like on xbox1 by pressing A, B, X, Y, START or BACK, cause every dash has its own tricks
f.e. ingenioux is fantastic cause of the double sided file browser (why there werent tools like "boxplorer"? i really liked that damn prog), xexmenu got the only ftpserver which is usefull with the exiso stuff, and freestyle, yes, its the best optical dash in the scene, stamped out of nothing wink.gif

So, keep on the good work, and the community will never forget ppls like u
i never forgot the firefuckers team on xbox 1, cause they did great things smile.gif so set ur own milestone, and let us do things with the fantastic xbox 360, that we just never thought wink.gif

love you  love.gif     biggrin.gif

Are you using stock Xell or Xellous? If you never updated the Xell on your box, you should once you get it running - it'd be way easy to fix that way. This is fixable, but it's not gonna be easy. You may have to re-JTAG it, but that's worst-case-scenario. You're not totally botched.

here is the links to Patch Pack V5
This uses Dash Launch .02 as base and I have pre compiled the patches for both auto launch and region free. Also pre-setup some launch paths for xexmenu and freestyle. There is also a custom launch that can be edited for what ever con/xex you like.

i would really like to try this but i'm a bit scared on the flashing to the nand part. i will make a backup of my nand bafore trying to flash the updpatch_Big_Block.bin to my nand. before i go ahead could someone please answer two questions for me.

question 1: is there any way this could be setup without flashing the file to the nand.

question 2: if dash launcher is flashed to the nand how would one go about reverting back to booting into NXE, would the original nand image need flashing back.

i'll just wait for any answers before taking the plunge...................sudeki300

A1. no its the only way
A2. it will still boot NXE as normal if it does not find the launch.xex

Ok my Q is, trying to boot to feestyle on USB but ONLY have a USB device (no proper360HDD)
the USB device is found and all by XBR, and normally when i do have a HDD connected so its not the USB at fault
(its just i keep using the HDD from my clean 360 and dont want the risk of a ban !!)

is this possible to use ONLY a USB ?

EDIT EDIT

it seems it ONLY looks in root off HDD for launch
prob has todo with this line in the patch ??
would changing harddisk, to usb work ??

CODE

# ============================================================================
# some free data space to put a path in
# ============================================================================
    .long 0x000403B0
    .long (9f - 0f) / 4
0:
    .string "\\Device\\Harddisk0\\Partition1\\launch.xex"
    .byte 0
    .align 2
9:

that pack wont 'fix' the thing im trying to do (that 'pack' is just to make things 'easier' for noobs to set it up)

i want to lauch a dash from USB with NO HDD attached ...
and as it seems you have to have the launch.xex on HDD it just wont work ..

as the readme state's ..
Place the appropriate Launch.xex at root of Xbox HDD
as i dont want to use a standard HDD i cannot get it to lauch from its USB ...
unless it seems i change the patch contents as my other post??
but not sure the true device term would be, ? just USB ? or USB0 ?
    .string "\\Device\\usb0\\Partition1\\launch.xex" ??

Hmm.  So this was working fine (booting into Freestyle).   Today I turned on the box and I had two flashing lights, but diagonally (top right quadrent and bottom left).   Turned off the console and turned it back on and it booted into NXE, not Freestyle.....

Haven't tried turning it off and on again yet as I'm FTP'ing some stuff.   I googled the red light code but couldn't see anything about the 2 diagonal lights.  Any ideal?

Yep, now it just boots into NXE every time :/.  So do I need to run the patch again (how would it have become unpatched though?).  Or is it maybe the launch.xex?

EDIT:  It was the launch.xex or ini.  Replaced those and it works again.

Ok, scratch that.  It booted into Freestyle the first time (after I replaced the launch files), but now it just boots back into NXE again :\

Not much the expert here, but what happens if you change it to:

.string "\\Device\\sda1\\launch.xex"

or

.string "\\Device\\usb0\\launch.xex"

I don't know, but I'm positive that if we know the usb port strig name, we can change this.

Cheers

The delay between the start screen and the freestyle dash is way too long. Found out I could cut the time it takes by half by disabling auto sign in. Guess that will have to do for now.

FML I just did the same god D*** thing.  Renamed the patch.s file to updpatch.bin and flashed.  Boots to XELL, just have the version that comes on XBR, no Xellous.  Any ideas? (short of re LPT flashing that is)
