I just made like a jtag profile basically...i think the whole having a huge gamescore to impress people on live is well kinda not my obsession...dont get me wrong love achievements and how they give life to games but basically to those complaining about emu's having achievements get over it! i think it is supercool for homebrew to have achievments,,,

Many of us have 2 Xboxs, one JTAGed, and one for LIVE. We transfer our profiles back and forth using a memory card.

Kyle

Indeed, I play all my backups on my jtag using my live profile which is set to automatically sign in, its very easy to forget about the achievements in the emulators and just boot them on the fly like you would any other game and then have to be forced into redownloading your gt off live

holy cow, thanks for the warning.

why by console.  as long as i don't use an xbl profile while i am running homebrew then, in theory, i should be ok.

Okay, another question: Anyone out there know enough about programming to remove the achievements, or can anyone point me in the right direction?

Yes, but it is incredibly easy to forget which profile is signed in. I also have kids who play the Xbox...one mistake on their part, and the Gamertag will probably be banned.

While I understand I am taking on the risk by using the JTAG hack, and since I have no coding talent, I am relying on other people's work...I just don't understand the need to add achievements...if nothing else, it seems like more work for the coder.

My humble $0.02. Anyway, I love the emulators that have come out, but since I have kids who play, have had to avoid using them so the kids don't get achievements and not tell me.

Sounds like if you want to keep your gamer tag safe, keep it off a JTAGGED console.

I think that is probably the mindset of most coders.

Doing otherwise sounds like very risky business if you really like live.

Hoping that EVERY app or game you ever run on your JTAGGED console does nothing to your profile that MS cannot detect and then BAN sounds like it has a very low chance of being succesfull.

I don't really get why MS would ban a profile that has Emu achievements on it. I mean, the person obviously has a legit system by going on Live and playing games as well. The fact they use their profile to play homebrew on another console does not take away that they're paying for Live and paying for the games they play on Live.

the gamerscore would be senseless otherwise. and may other gamer see your emu entry and want to know what it is.

by the way, where is the settings.xml?

You won't get banned with jtag achievments period. They aren't tied to a specific title id, therefore if you connected to xbox live with them, they wouldn't upload to your xbox live profile on the microsoft server. If people compared games, they wouldn't be able to see them. Basically, the achievements are stored locally. If you connect to xbox live, they will show up on your xbox only. If you recover your account, they get erased.

Even if they did upload or do something of that nature, I still don't get how microsoft would be able to prove that the console you are on is modified. For all they know, your friend with a jtag could have brought their hdd over to your house.

Nice work biggrin.gif I practised some soldering today hoping to JTAG my spare console this week biggrin.gif will try this emu.

I would never use the same profile on both consoles though, that's asking for trouble.

But doesn't the act any achievements from valid games while using a JTAGGED console mean achievements cannot be trusted?   Meaning that someone could cheat with a JTAGGED console?  Or gamerscore? I don't use Live so I don't exactly know everything about online play..

If so, that would probably be a compelling reason why MS will watching closely.

You can mod gamerscore quite easily without a jtag.

Exactly!  Microsoft was banning people for editing their gamerscores.  That being said, you'd be a fool to use your xbl gamertag on a jtag'd xbox.  Especially if you are one of those people who like to spend money on d/l content.

I still quite don't understand this assumption. If you jtag console is unbanned and has never connected to live, if you unlock an achievement on it how in the world would microsoft tell the difference? And microsoft didn't ban people for modding their gamerscore, they just reset the gamerscore to 0, which is a better punishment.

keep  up the good work. i was wondering when Genesis EMU was gonna have achievements with it.  i feel everyone about getting on XBL. i was using my HDD on on 2 systems, then when i got my JTAG system i got another HDD just for it.
i wouldn't make a jtag profile on your HDD that has your XBL profile on it. the info on the hdd may still be viewable by ms.

I can vouch for this. I accidentally signed into live with the SNES360 achevos on my profile. I had two different gamer scores, one on my friends list and one in my profile. I had a friend compare games and he couldn't see the Snes achievements I'd unlocked. I deleted my profile and recovered it off of live with no problems.
I can't say I'll never be banned for it, it's been more then a couple weeks and I'm still playing on live.

I bet the next xbox live update will have a check so it's probably not smart to use your live profile.
I still use mine, but I back it up to my external about once a week. This way any unwanted `chevos can be "deleted".
