Will Any Coder Make A Internet Browser For The 360.
« on: February 12, 2010, 01:44:00 PM »

I was wondering with all these new dashboards and homebrew apps, would it be possible for someone to actually make a web browser of some sort to run on the 360. So it could take advantage of the 10/100 mbps ethernet port....It would be awesome to have something like that to add the the functionality of running hommade dashboards. Im not a coder and Im not an expert in these kinds of projects.

It seems like it would be quite difficult to use compared to a computer.

It would be awesome to have a internet browser, and keyboard and mouse support, but I doubt it is an easy task, and it won't be done for another year at least.

I did some further reading and it seems the guys who made XBMC dont have any future plans to make some sort of XBMC for the 360..... It is a very hard task though.... If you compare how the browser on the ps3 is made to work, it has functionality with the joysticks as the mouse and an onscreen keyboard... It would be awesome if something like that came out...And yes the 360 should be used to play games not surf the web for those who oppose....

it certainly should be lower priority than most other progs that still have potential to be made.

But it would be nice to see if someone could get working a method to use a standard keyboard and mouse application that would allow the games to be controlled that way using the standard wasd configuration or the likes.

I have looked at http://ubrowser.com/ but I don't feel that I have any time to try and port it. It is a lib/app that uses the mozilla renderer to implement a "embedded" web browser.

But there is an alternative, I have made a vnc client for jtaged 360s. And websurfing with the 360 through that app works quite good, atleast if you have a chatpad. And the performance is quite good, you can even watch youtube through the client.

I think a coder can use Firefox Sourcecode and can write to XBOX 360. I have the XexDK Software but no XDK Console :-(

If vnc is used, then itlll always need a server to control the 360 browsing... If the communication can be embedded in a flash chip and put onto the keyboard or mouse or even the 360, would that be possible? Based on what ive read VNC is when you control another pc through your own.
