Why won't XM360 and XexMenu be merged to one project? This would make much sense IMO.

Do you have any reason to believe that it is really processing the xm360.cfg that you editted?  In other words...try changing the XBLA report path, and then generate an xbla report...it will tell you the path that it is using.

overscan settings work fine for me...try setting them to something huge like 100 to see if it does anything.

Overscan works fine for me. I have horizontal set to like 35 and vertical at 20. Did you make sure to uncomment them (remove the # in front of them)? I noticed the settings were commented out when you open the cfg file.

Different people involved...I do XM360 all on my own...I haven't even seen the code for XexMenu, nor do I really know what is being planned for the next version.  That being said, it's certainly possible that this will end up being merged into some other dash replacement in the future.

How about a "manage savegames" feature? (Delete, copy, transfer etc) Would be nice if you have more than one box. Would be nice to be able to have the names of the savegames come up, and not just a bunch of numbers and letters.

You inspired me.  So I did it.  So far the only the display of saves.  Delete is easy.  Expect it in version 1.5.  Transfer and copy are harder since they require the ability to set a destination folder...so that isn't there yet.

That is done via a custom FTP command, which your ftp server won't know how to respond to...

Can someone explain to me the live container thing?  I have seen live folders and stuff included on some of the homebrew releases I have, but was not sure what they were or how they work and had trouble searching for anything specific?

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by the question, but as far as I understand it, there are to ways to launch a homebrew program.
1) Have an executable file that you run from a program like XEXMenu or freestyle dash etc.
2) Have a live container, which means you can run it from the standard 360 menu system (on a jtagged 360 of course). On the 360 are a bunch of folders, and you copy the 'live container' inside the relevant folder and the program will then show up in the standard 360 dash and you can run it from there.

Many thanks for implementing this idea

I spent ages yesterday fighting timestamps and trying various ftp syncronise programs all in vain :¬(
I found ftping into xexmenu1.1 sometimes kept original date and sometime not  - weird
I will try your xm360 ftp server see if timestamps persist

All i want to do is keep my 3 xbox's save games and cache's in sync

Many thanks for all your efforts

If you are really using 1.4b then I would say it's pretty much luck that it is working.  I just read the code.  It must be failing to fetch the remote path (since that is a custom FTP command), which would leave the path empty.  Then when it requests the file, the ftp server just happens to be in the correct current directory.  I suggest that if you like this behavior (and I don't blame you if you do!) then you not play around with custom locations for the content.bin, since that will likely break it.

I don't think you are going to find any kind of success via ftp...when an ftp client talks to an ftp server about transferring a file, there is no notion what-so-ever about timestamps on the files...all that happens is a filename is passed, and then a bunch of bytes...there is no metadata to speak of.  If you can explain why this is vitally important for transferring save games, I could implement some more custom communication between XM360 sessions that ensure that the resulting timestamp is identical to the source.

Hi all, loving Xm360 as always (still my fave JTAG app)

Sorry I haven't had time to more extensively test the ftp functions etc.. (it would help if Xbins always had updated ver availible after it's announcement on XS but always seems to be lag) List of suggestions:

1. Make startup scan optional (either by editing config or more preferrably a button)

2. Fix DLC viewing filters (give more options) I believe in earlier verisons you could exclusively see only content you had(locally), Would be nice if one could further profile that by drive eg, HDD1: only or USB: only which brings me to no.3

3. Allow copying of 'All missing content to drive that is missing it' Eg; If HDD1: Has XBLA and/or 'other' DLC content that I can backup to USB dashit folder. Ideally this function could have a seperate page that includes remote ftp xbox as a 'drive' to/from copy option so I can copy content from one drive to another . This would be VERY handy as some of us use a hdd to download to on an online box and then move it to a JTAG box which runs from USB.

4. Extend the whole GOD/CON boot thing but seperate them on another screen and/or make a universal filter for content eg, XBLA,GOD,TU,DLC(Non acrcade dlc eg map-packs) Then by drive HDD,USB,DVD-Then add remote icons for remote items.. Bringing me to no.5

5. Make XM360 an entire boot solution (seeing as there's all that open source stuff ala Freestyle Dash) Integrate it into freestyle or do your own from the begining using their libraries The only thing ur missing is the copy DVD/Patch and the ability to change fanspeed /lights (Some ppl like to configure thumbnails/previews for Emulators,Games etc.. but I personally think most of it is overkill and too much to configure Xexmenu 1.1 is close but lacks the XM360 functions and freestyles bells/whilstles (Lights that go by temp/Configurable Fanspeeds)

6. There also seems to be a huge delay on boot even without the scan (which we all love to avoid if at all possible) I'm guessing that has soemthing to do with the FTP functionality (that's cool, would be good if we could configure that though)

7. Keep up the good work this seems to be the most continuely polished piece of code I have the honor to install and support...

Sorry if I've been a bit hard to follow in places but I hope I got most of the points across. We will give lots more feedback after I get to Downloading/Checking-out/Rollling-out the new version (hope it's not final though)

Brgds Dan

I have no idea what that is.
The 'Flicker Filter' is a (hardware) feature of TV-out decoders (PAL/NTSC) that will blend odd/even lines together to reduce interlace flickering by the cost of sharpness. Xbox1 homebrew allowed control of that filtering in many dashboards and open source software (xbmc, unleashx, xsnesx..). There is a huge quality gain by disabling this since standardsettings are always set to 'max' and post-process the picture too much.
http://forum.xbmc.or...read.php?t=4215

For the xbox360 it depends on the hardwarechip responsible for TV-out. It very likely needs a direct memory patch since there may be no available functions in the XDK for that.
