XM360 v0.4
« Reply #105 on: January 29, 2010, 06:28:00 AM »

Status update on version 0.6.

Last night, after quite a bit of work, I got a version to display DLC in an acceptable format.  It just needs a little bit of cleanup, and some testing of the "unlock" code, and then it should be ready for release.  Maybe even as early as this evening.

After that, I can start thinking about collection management for DLC.

still amazed at how quick everything is progressing with homebrew now - and great tools like this, especially when all combined together will make managing everything we have, be it DLC, XBLA etc so much easier

Um, no.  You can't launch DLC.

Do you just plan to spam this on every thread?  It doesn't apply to this one.

ok, sorry.

about the DLC stuff. how does it work? How can we play it?
we enter the game and the game detects it's own DLC?

what you are doing is just to DLC show up in list, so we know what we have?

Yes, DLC is loaded by a game automatically.

This first release will let you see what DLC you have, and unlock it.

This brings up an interesting question...

When I scan for XBLA titles, I search everywhere (well, you know what I mean).  Since, afterall, XBLA titles can be *used* from anywhere (launched).

When it comes to DLC that doesn't really make much sense, does it?  Titles are only ever going to look for DLC on the internal hdd:, right?  So, should I restrict scanning for DLC to the internal hdd:, or do you want to see it even if it is elsewhere, even though it won't work?

I could always spit out a dlc_report.txt file that lists DLC that was found in the "wrong" place, and therefore wont work.  Is that likely to be useful?

Anyway...I just made the mistake of working on XM360 version 0.6 for about 2 hours while at work...The problem with that is that the 360 is miles away...So, while I know that it compiles, it's very likely that I've broken something again...that makes a release for tonight less likely.  It was in terrible need of a massive clean-up, and re-working.  That's done now, so I only have to get it to work once again. :-)  It is now feature complete for the next release...just gotta get it bug-free.

my opinion is that it only should lookup in internal HDD. smile.gif
that's the only way it's playable.

also we can know if all is uploaded the right way that way.

I agree - only look from the internal hdd - no point trying to cater for every persons peculiar tastes if someone insists they keep it stored elsewhere even tho useless - else they'll next want it scanning their pc hdd shared folders via ftp access too or something smile.gif  Kept simpler the better - could always look at that way down line in future if they work a way to load them from USB.

On other note - any idea how this will work with Lips dlc?  From what I can gather on reading - aswell as the actual dlc, it looks like an xml file may have to be created for each entry too (could be wrong tho)

I don't know anything about Lips DLC.  I'll have to get some and try it out.

That being said...XM360 can't do anything about any extra requirements.  For example, if some DLC needs a TU to work, there's no way for me to know that.  Either you have it, or you don't.  At least knowing that you have it, and that it is installed correctly...if it doesn't work, it's probably a TU issue.

That would/will make sense if/when DLC is actually usable from different places, so I would give it a pretty low priority right now.

@hfmls: Internal_HDD:Content/000000000000. Also: post less, read more.

version 0.6 is out, and ready for beta testing...if you have an old link, you should be able to find it.

After I get some feedback, I'll get it to the usual places.

For completeness sake:

=-=-=-=-=

Version 0.5 --
* Added support for all screen resolutions
* Added button to return to dash.  This might take a bit of time since this is when it writes the report file to the USB stick.  This also means that if you exit via the center X on the controller, the report won't get written (unless you had clicked on Scan, which exits the Collection Manager and also causes it to write the report)
* Added titles that you have, and that are excluded to new sections of the report.  The Have titles include their full path.  This can help you figure out why NXE can't see them, but XM360 can.

=-=-=-=-=

Version 0.6 -- Jan 30th, 2010
* Massive rewrite to support DLC (so, expect some bugs)
* Supoort for viewing your installed DLC, and unlocking it
* layout isn't great, but it works well enough for now
* the button to unlock DLC *only* affects the DLC currently listed.  So, if you want to unlock it all, make sure you have selected the <All> category
* the xbla_report.txt is written any time you exit the Collection Manager, so expect it to be a little slow.  I'll probably add a button for the next release.
* Include "hdd:\\360dashit\\Content\\0000000000000000" as a source of XBLA files
* When sorting by ratings, higher number of raters counts for more.  Also, highest ratings are at the top now, not the bottom

-enjoy

excellent - thank you.

I'll start testing it out bit by bit in a couple of hours when get chance.

i haven't even tried out any DLC yet (well other than Peggle Nights which I unlocked manually) to the jtagged box.....

so I'll test it out first with it looking at files already unlocked manually then start adding more different types of locked dlc into equation to see what happens.

Does it also show up missing DLC or is that still to come?  Expect that report file will be quite large smile.gif
