Or maybe it's not a bug and is removed due to the useless nature of filesystem that's read-only for now; in an app that is designed for installing games (among other things~).
Instead of demanding they fix your problem; why not just conform to Fat32 which gets you read/write capability? You know the 4GB filesize limit will NEVER arise when it comes to extracted 360 content, right?

A) My HD movies are up to 40 gigs, and this is slightly larger than 4gb... is it not?

B ) What happens to all the folders with filenames more than 255bytes? The drive has been my backup drive for a LONG time and has files that deep.

C) What happens when after accidentally unplugging it, and needing a recover? FAT32 will take forever to find the issue, HFS repairs the drives journal in under a minute!

D) I can write to the drive using my mac/macdrive so I do not care that it is write only.

E) I am not demanding anything, just wondering if it is a bug, or it is actually removed

F) You are being a prick, there are a myriad of other people using HFS for various reasons and we at least want to know if it is time to get another drive

So store your HD Movies on one drive and your 360 games on another, pretty simple.
If you've got filenames longer than 255 characters you're not storing your 360 games where they're supposed to be stored (USB:\Games\Title)
Don't unplug it when writing to it. If you're just reading from it, no harm will come anyway.
What about installing games from..you know..disk? You know, like stuff you purchased and didn't pirate?

It's time to buy a new drive.

so you want me to go through all that trouble... why? I am all set up for HFS, FAT32 would be a pain for me, and would cost me money

then you accuse me of being a pirate, I've been ripping my games to this hard drive for a LONG time from my krion drive so don't make wild accusations.

It seems obvious that bollwage is aware of work arounds, he is just commenting about a missing/inoperative feature, and has done so in a non-demanding way that other users may find useful.
"Do it this way, because every does" type of arguments are useless.  If a feature is requested by enough people, then work will be done to implement it.
FAT32 is an antique file system with many drawbacks..... hell even MS abandoned it for large drives, a long, long time ago.  The hacking community is supposed to be about moving forward and making things do the "impossible".  Just because you find a feature useless does not mean that every one else does.  Do not accuse some one of piracy because of wild speculations...  Only warning you will receive..

It just seems silly to use a file system you can only read from and not write to, when the entire point of XexMenu is the installation and launching of 360 titles. And you may say "wild speculation"; I say "someone who can't even get the name of his Kreon drive right and has no desire to install from disks = someone who downloads his games as ISO files."
It's true that HFS and indeed NTFS have both got numerous advantages over FAT32; but these advantages are from the point of view of running a desktop OS on that drive. "Even Microsoft" knows that for a console game machine, keeping it simple is best - FATX is a derivative of FAT - the Father of FAT32.

I have about 400gb worth of ISOs that i've been extracting as I want  to play them on the XBR xbox, I've been ripping them myself as backups, but also so that I can have more than one copy to play on other xboxes in the house. I am not a pirate.

the point of this thread is to find out if there is a way or if there will ever be a way to use HFS, not to debate which one to use, and tell me why i'm stupid for choosing HFS, I have my reasons, LET IT BE

I also recommend you show more respect to not only members here, but especially to the staff...

Who cares what his reasons are?  I wouldn't choose HFS+, but that is irrelevant.  Functionality was there which has now been removed.  bollwage asked respectfully and calmly what the deal is, you've carried on like a little brat that's had his mummy let him use the internet for an hour.

Some people may not want to use the "Copy DVD" functionality, did you consider that?  I hate to break it to you, but the "Copy DVD" functionality can also be used illegally, not to mention it's unreliable and somewhat slow so many opt to rip with a kreon drive on a pc and dump it onto a usb hdd from there.

Quite the heated argument here.

Personally, I have no problems with HFS when used on a PC (While I prefer NTFS, HFS is certainly better than FAT32), but in this environment it really does make little sense. I can't really understand wanting to use a file-system lacking in write support.

That said, I can understand the frustration. This was a feature that existed in previous versions, which is currently lacking in this release. Just because I wouldn't use it doesn't mean that others would not.

Bullwage, i do hope you get a proper answer from a developer concerning why it was left out.

Cerise, here at X-S we attempt to try to keep things civil, your diatribe certainly seems to have pressed that line, if not crossed it. I do indeed see this argument from your point of view. HFS seems completely illogical to me in this context, but the fact remains that many do prefer HFS, and we need to step back and respect that.
