What Emulators Would You Like To See?
« on: January 15, 2010, 12:48:00 PM »

This is sort of a normal discussion thread, thats about emulation.

So, what emulators would you like to see on the 360, now that they are possible.

I'd like to see a PSX emulator, a Dreamcast emulator and a Gamecube emulator.
The 360 has more thatn enough power for PSX and DC and i'm fairly sure GC is possible too.

Discuss !!

PSX Full speed Xbox's CPU/GPU should be able to handle it np.

N64 now this should be possible full speed with the right coder behind it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Sega 32X emulation (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I love to see Dreamcast also on the xbox as Bladewing mentioned be fantastic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm a big follower of MAME love it. I love to  see a more Optimised version of MAME. I understand the current version was a quick port. I may be wrong here but that's what I thought I read about it. Is the current version of mame taking advantage of the Xbox’s CPU features  6 HW threads?

Now I'm getting a Jtag xbox from a fellow on this forum so I'm unable to check these games yet.

Do anyone know if the following games run full speed in MAME?

Mortal Kombat 1,2,3
Primal Rage
NBA Jam

Killer Instinct 1, 2 Emu U64 of something, which be unreal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

http://www.emuasylum.com/index.php?page=em...ler%20Instinct)

What's interesting is the guy notes on this site say Ki1 runs perfect on P3 933MHZ. I not tech savvy but how does the Xbox's CPU compare to say a P4 3.0GHZ chip?

Sorry to go on guys just really excited about the possibility's of homebrew on the Xbox (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Cheers

I'm really happy about the explosion of homebrew and my thanks goes out to all the legends who coded the emulators, loaders and XBR of course!

I am lovin SNES, Genesis & MAME I think having PSX & N64 would be a pretty complete package in terms of emulators.

Keep up the good work you guys I wish I could help!!!

i think everything up to Dreamcast/PS2/Gamecube (hell maybe even Wii wink.gif ) should be possible. But it is a hell lot of work, tho the 360 should have enough power to run those system playable.

I would love to see a PSX emulator.

Sadly, i don't expect too much. Unlike the xbox scene, which was massive do to the relative simplicity of the hack, this one is much more limited. there are so many xboxes out there capable of the hack, and the platform is thus limited by the potential size of the community.

I would love to see some excellent emulators, but i won't hold my breath for anything too complex.

i think someone should focus on emulating the wii on the 360, by looking over the specs of the wii i think it is more than possible that the 360 could handle it

Chances of xbmc are probably pretty slim, the project has matured significantly since they made the decision to move to linux.  Even the 360 isn't capable of much of the stuff they've implemented in it, and I can't really see the devs all that keen to take the project backwards to support a machine that probably even 5% of users can hack.  The big thing is RAM that the 360 lacks, 512mb is not much when you consider the amount of functionality it supports, when they can develop their app for a HTPC which has 2gb at a minimum, albeit with the OS overhead.

XBMC has moved on from it's humble beginnings to bigger and better things, and to be honest I wouldn't want that team wasting their time on the 360.

Until you see it for the PC, don't expect it on the 360.  I would just like to see a rock solid stable release for the non-modern consoles (NES, Genesis, SNES, PSX, Mame, TG-16, N64, Neo Geo, etc.).  If it gets to the point where the Saturn or the Dreamcast/PS2 can be ported, that would be wonderful.  But, as for the Wii and Gamecube, your probably better off just buying a Wii, as it has a decent chunk of additional horsepower over a xbox, and a lot of additional complications to boot, such as bluetooth, sensor bar, etc., and I'd rather see a solid Xbox emulator arrive than a Wii one.  Though I think it would be awesome to just be able to emulate the Xbox and then use all the homebrew that was built for it in the 360 via emulator.  :-)  XBMC via emulation....LOL
