+1 on that guide.
Keep in mind that you need to install the appropriate JTAG hack as well for XBR / Xell / anything else to work after confirming your box is exploitable.
If you have a Xenon Xbox use this:

http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=698784Proposed diodes are BAT41, 1N4148 or 1N4153 in all cases, that includes the optional diode on pin 11 of the LPT plug
I used 1N4148's on my Xenon box.
Cable length, while important might not be the only cause of bad dumps (assuming soldering is correct), some systems just won't play ball. In my case nandpro dumped successfully but every dump had over 1000 differences between them despite degraded giving the ok.
I went through 4 systems (1x P4, 2xlaptops, 1xA64) before I got one that gave identical dumps (P3 tower). Cable length is ~90cm for reference, but I connected the xbox chassis to the cable shielding which was in turn connected to the PC.
And one more thing, the guide was designed around 8955_1 but 8955_3 is prepared and flashed the exact same way.
In deciding which 8955 version to use xbins should have them labeled well enough. Only use the one designed for your 360 revision.
