Well it appears using x360gamehack was what the problem was.  I patched borderlands using that tool instead with all the default options and was able to run it without any slowdowns (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

On another note, when patching L4D2, the screen just comes up with black and purple checkers, and never starts the game.  Anyone else tried L4D2 yet?

Which settings exactly ?

Yes, me .

I patched with xextool and than turned into dev mode with x360gamehack

I played it yesterday for about an hour without slowdown.

I think you need a lot of luck. I tried the same with assassins creed 2, but it always slows down on the same scene .

I think I need a homebrew 360. Anyone sell them pre-LPT/JTAG exploited?

Would you mind sharing the settings you used? smile.gif

Also I just patched L4D2 with only x360gamehack using only the default settings, which resulted in a black and purple checkerboard showing on my screen, nothing else.

Hi this is probably a very stupid question but please forgive my lack of understanding right now.  I have a xbox that is about 3 years old one of the original elites.  I have been on xbox live and have the most recent update and am not banned.  Can I still use a jtag exploit to use homebrew apps or would I need one without the update?  I know that the jtag for for downgrading and for reading and writing a new KV are out but is the rest possible?

I have played Left 4 Dead 2 with no issues, as well as many other games. You need to CLEAR YOUR CACHE of title updates, because when you patch games, the xexp files inside the update cannot run correctly. The workaround for this is extracting the files from the title update and using xextool [-p] to apply the patches to the untouched game files, then patch with gamehack and play.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Make sure all the libraries L4D2 uses are getting patched with gamehack, they should be like so:

CODE
Checking all files in 'J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\'

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\default.xex was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\datacache_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\engine_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\FileSystem_Stdio_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\GameUI_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\inputsystem_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\launcher_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\MaterialSystem_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\SceneFileCache_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\shaderapidx9_360.dll was patched successfully

Xex file J:\USB\Left 4 Dead 2\bin\SoundEmitterSystem_360.dll was patched successfully

my apologies  wink.gif  it appears it was a bad rip from my drive.  I extracted the game partition from the original backup, and then extracted that partition using Qwix, patched the files, and it loads up perfectly now smile.gif

Would it be possible to extract the needed files from an ISO and patch and then play off external HDD? I have many more ISO's than are actually burnt to disc and this would just be nice.

Yes, extracting the game data files from a 360 ISO image, patching the xex and then copying the files to a folder on your USB HD will work fine.

*sigh* we need a sticky for this....

If you have the latest updates, either from LIVE or from the latest games, or have bought a 360 that has it preloaded, then NO, you cannot use this, and most likely never will be able to.

Regardless of the type of 360, you must NOT have the latest updates loaded, and to all those waiting for that to change, it would take an entirely new exploit to be found, so I'd say forget about it, sell your current box and go buy another one if you want to exploit it.

Any particular program you would recommend for this?
