Maybe if you asked the author of the guide for help, you might have an easier time, eh? You could have PM'd me, or sent me an email, to the address on the title page. Also, the only guide that gives details on how to remove a sidecar is posted on my site, and assemblergames.com, so please give credit to the author when you mention the guide.
Thanks for letting me know the link was broken though! I'll update it as soon as I have time. Just use any retail xbox 360 DVD drive connectors, if you need an SATA cord, you can just use regular one from a computer if need be, though I would not suggest it.
It should be easy to know which connectors go where, as DVD connectors will only fit in one of the connectors, properly that is. Also, if you still aren't able to get it working, just use the "Plug and Test" method, it won't harm the xbox.
Hm, I guess you didn't label which plug goes where, as I suggested you do, in the guide, eh?
