Can't Play Retail Game Builds On My Official Dev Kit?
« on: March 15, 2008, 10:48:00 AM »

Does anyone know how to play retail copies of games on an official dev kit? ***Actually, A DEBUG UNIT!***

I can use preview and review code builds just fine, as they load automatically, but when I insert a real game the kit thinks it's a DVD.

I believe I have the latest firmware.  Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!!!

***This is not a Dev Kit it is just a DEBUG UNIT.  Sorry about the confusion.  There is no sidecar, etc.***

As far as I am aware no one has come up with a way to run retail games on dev/test kits.

Its possible and has already been done for ages.

Like I said I was not aware it was possible, I was wrong so there was no need to rub it in my face that this was the case.

Its not like you can take a retail disk and have it play like it does on a retail kit now.

From my experience, you can't unless you convert the game to Dev Mode.
The utilities to do so is out there and available. You might have seen it and not know unless you know what your looking for.
I don't recall which version of xdk you should have in order to do this but that's what i saw first hand.

It's called XEXTool, and it's in the Downlaods section. It's a simple command line tool.
