We will not lie, it is not for noobs, many drives have died in the tests to arrive to the method you will see on the video. But with all that, its the easiest it can get just now. We delayed the (by now old) Macronix trick while we make this trick as easiest as possible. Full note and comments of Geremia can be found here.

We have released now Gecko 1.17 to handle Winbond Unlock with this method, you will appreciate the possibility to do the unlock on your Workbench with a small standalone device like Lizard powered from usb-ac adapter instead of having to have a PC near for this particular job.

Full tutorial is being written and posted in the next 24 hours, but meanwhile we have prepared a small video of how to unlock the Winbond with kamikaze method using Lizard (Require Gecko 1.17)

Seriously, how does someone come up with this shit? lol.

I could see MS employees trying to defend themselves to their bosses about this security breach.... "give us a break man, we really didn't think someone was going to drill the chip and then ignite it with a spark"

i gotta admit that is weird. I will be for sure trying this, lol. holy cow. How do people do it without that tungsten carbide engraving dremel bit? Lol. I have a few in my dremel set. I could start selling it here on this forum. I used it for wii d2b cut legs. lol

I been hacking different things for a long time... probably first was putting a stereo sid chip in my c64... HOWEVER... this just blew my mind.. my jaw dropped... spark from the aim n flame at the end was the icing on the cake.. lol AWESOME work guys.

Have to get a slim back in here so I can perform this. Got a question in regards to using it with jungleflasher.

Till a new jungleflasher is released to coincide do you just refresh the drive [..] as your drilling till it opens up? And also in regards to a full dump. I already have SLIMKEY from an 0225, but once the winbond is unlocked and click read next to erase will provide full dump along with key?

I would answer my own questions but have to wait on a slim now but perhaps others are curious :/
