Well you could flash a spare and see if it takes off. if not, then do MRA dump. possibly save some time.

We just need a way to read the DVD info before modding, see what its reporting as not what it truly is. JF should be able to grab this info on power up. This isn't a problem with LT firmwares either, as they don't spoof.

Well the PDF instructions, does say "it allows you to dump all lite-ons", it does not specify its just a key extraction. But Jungle Flasher does in fact NOT tell you the drive is spoofed using this method.

I just verified that, , ,

Yeah you're right :$
I don't really work with much spoofed drives; I remembered it showing the spoofed drive.

I don't see why they can't add a feature to check if the drive is spoofed and if so as what other drive.

After reading the guide for PMT probe and key extraction, I actually think cutting the traces is an easier and more reliable method.  Its nice that there is another option and thanks to all those that put time and effort into this.  But assuming you have at least some soldering skills (which is likely the case if you are building a DIY probe) I'd stick with the old MRA trace cut method.

Well it's an excellent DIY, for those of us who don't have the skills, we can just wait for the Probe III.  I think the main point here is that keys can be dumped without the need for cutting and soldering traces.  It's quicker and easier for the amateur who wants to mod their own system.

Big negative, we have stated its has the option to be standalone, now where did Maximus say it will be complete standalone!

If your going to spread facts know the facts, stop spread untold truths.

Here is a Fact, Lizard has supported slim Drives from before release, it can fully read both slim lite-on keys just like any other product out there, it can fully Write slim 9xxxx just like any device out there.

Know 0225 is a different story on writing as it is hardware locked and C4E can verify that, which is why all you see out there is key read

Wondering how long it would be before you chimed in.. and as usual going back on what was said....

With this new probe, it did NOT tell me the drive was spoofed.

Yeesh...neither did the old r707 probe.  If a BenQ drive is showing up in JF as a Hitachi then maybe, just maybe it's spoofed.

You didnt noticed it was a Liteon drive label but was showing as a benq?  blink.gif

And spoofing isnt supported with LT/LT+ !   sleep.gif

Yeesh...neither did the old r707 probe.  If a BenQ drive is showing up in JF as a Hitachi then maybe, just maybe it's spoofed.

It did actually tell you that it was NOT a liteon drive. If you had a liteon drive (7x series) that was spoofed as another drive and you used to probe to dump it, it tells you that the drive is NOT a liteon. True it does not tell you what it was spoofed AS but it did give you a heads up that something was wrong, which was nice. Its at that point you do a full dump and see whats up.

again I REALIZE that you cant spoof a liteon drive and have it read games properly NOW but that was NOT the case a few months ago.  I'm now getting folks bringing me all kinds of weird stuff, and a for JF to tell me that something is amiss with the liteon's that I'm dumping would be helpful, cuz if I dump a liteon that was previously spoofed as something else then reflash it as a liteon, well that would SUCK. I would have had no way of knowing it was previously spoofed, , ,

Just saying, , If someone brings me a "update" I'll be doing the old probe method or a full DUMP until Jungle Flasher give me a proper warning. Though everyone should know.

I do give THANKS everyone involved for this wonderful hack however it does work like a champ! :-)

I still don't understand the issue, why do you say there's no way of knowing?  If the drive properties in JF are showing a different make to the physical drive in front of you then it's spoofed....if you've got a Liteon v7 that shows up as a BenQ in JF then flash it as a BenQ.

So,

Take a Liteon 7x drive, and spoof it as a benQ drive.

Now do the PMT method key extraction on that spoofed liteone drive. It does NOT tell you that the drive was spoofed at all. It give no error messages or anythign and automatically loads up the 7x LT + firmware ready for you to flash.

Now do the same dump with the old Probe, it dumps the key then Gives you a error message saying its not a liteon drive. Now the old probe did not tell you what the drive was spoofed as either but it does tell you that something is wrong and its time to do a FULL MRA dump to find out exactly what it was spoofed as.

OK...take that Liteon spoofed as a BenQ and connect it up to JF.

Drive Properties will show it's a BenQ....there's your answer before you even do any probing.

Kind of correct, mostly incorrect

After further testing, with multiple firmwares here is what I found JF reports:

IE 1.5 Liteon drive spoofed as benq - JF 1.79 Correctly Reports that the Drive Was spoofed!

LT 1.1 Liteon drive spoofed as benq -  JF 1.79 Does NOT correctly report the drive as being spoofed. It goes as far as telling you that its a 7485 firmware and happily lets you flash it in an unspoofed state erasing the evidence that it was spoofed and what is was spoofed as.

LT Plus 1.1 Liteone Drive spoofed as a benq -  JF 1.79 Does NOT correctly report the drive as being spoofed. It goes as far as telling you that its a 7485 firmware and happily lets you flash it in an unspoofed state erasing the evidence that it was spoofed and what is was spoofed as.

ORIGINAL Firmware Liteon drive spoofed as benq - JF 1.79 Does NOT correctly report the drive as being spoofed. It goes as far as telling you that its a 7485 firmware and happily lets you flash it in an unspoofed state erasing the evidence that it was spoofed and what is was spoofed as.

having people bring me LT 1.1 and original firmware drives that are spoofed and NOT having JF 1.79 report this correctly is a potential problem, but at least it does correctly report spoofing if the firmware was ie 1.5
