ISO2GOD v1.3.5
Posted by XanTium | January 1 19:05 EST | News Category: Xbox360

KrK / Team 360h released a version of ISO2GOD, a tool used to convert an Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 ISO images into Games on Demand containers, removing the need for a DVD drive in your 360:

This app now comes in two variants, one with an installer to things a bit quicker for Windows users and one without an installer for Linux users. If you intend to use Iso2God on Linux you'll need to install Wine and Mono.

Changelog for v1.3.5
~ Media ID now written to CON header correctly.
~ XexTool v6.0 now included to support newer XEXs.

Great release.

However I hoped they someday would give use FILES2GOD functionality. The functionality is already there in a way since the prog remakes the ISO totally. The prog extracts the files and rebulds the ISO in one step, It would be great if you could add a folder and the prog would make the GOD container. Tried several progs that made the ISOS but couldn't get it to work on all games, wanted to make 1 DISK GOD's out of 2 or 3 DISK games however had to place the files as files in the GAMES folder in the end since the GOD got corrupted.

Is there any way to contact the group and ask if they could ad this functionality if not to mutch hassle? Do any one know how to make contact? I am quite sure every game would work if they would add this possibility themselves....

He said this would be supported now and he also said there wouldn't be anymore updates after this release. I hope he makes atleast one more release with FOLDER2GOD / FILES2GOD functionality. A function patching old GOD with media ID would also be great even better if you could patch all GOD in a folder over FTP or atleast on the hardrive. Even patching them individually is better then making ISOS of the GOD and making new GOD with the new ISO2GOD. Its a pitty FSD2 can't find the updates without this now we really need to remake all our GOD's. Are all old GOD's without Media ID or is it only a problem with the new ones that have the different XEX?

Seeing as there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding future updates to I2G, I thought I'd clarify a few things here.

At present we don't have plans to put out any new releases of I2G unless there are new bugs the media ID issue that require fixing, but this is only because we're working on a new app which will eventually end up replacing I2G so our attention is focused on that right now. Because the code for I2G is fairly hideous to maintain, I've been rewriting it from scratch to make it easier to add in the various features people have been asking about for a while now. We're not committing to a release date though since the day jobs obviously take priority smile.gif

As for the media ID issue, it's relatively easy to fix manually as you just need to fill out the media ID at offset 0x354 in the CON stub then rehash the region 0x344-0xB000 using SHA-1 and write out those 16 bytes to 0x32C. I expect some of the container rehashing tools could do the job, but I'll try and put out a quick app to automate the fix if I get some free time this week.

Thanks for the continued support,

- KrK

Good job with all the hard work Krk. Pretty thankless job when you write programs for free.

Does this mean I can use FSD just to add the media ID and get updates but use the normal 360 dash on a day to day basis and it will use the updates in the normal way? Apologies if this is obvious, never bothered with FSD before.

That would be most helpful, especially if it runs on the 360.  I've got about 40 games already installed as GOD needing to be patched & I'm sure others are in the same spot.

Yes, the FSD version that we just released will do this for you.  From the changelog:

"(Added) Media id is injected into containers that are made with iso2god    "

You could do this with FSD, and then uninstall it if you wanted to...

So does this software make it so we don't need to modify the firmware to play backups on 360?  How do I go about transferring the games to the 360 hard drive?

No, it doesn't do that...move along.

Does this happen automatically when it scans media folders?  I don't see any mention of how to enable or execute this feature.

It's automatic.  If it encounters a GOD container with a missing MediaID, it fixes it.

First off, no need to be a prick about it.  I was simply asking a question.  So what exactly is the purpose of this software?

Second of all, if it doesn't do what I just asked.  Why does the description say, "KrK / Team 360h released a version of ISO2GOD, a tool used to convert an Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 ISO images into Games on Demand containers, removing the need for a DVD drive in your 360"?
