Sure thing, mentioned it here as well, unless I forgot.
Nothing killer, just the code that gets the XEX's CRC32 value sometimes spouts an incorrect CRC, and says 'No SSv1/SSv2 available' then ends the operation. Nothing is done to the image.

Haven't a bloody clue how to fix it, I was hoping someone would spot something in the source I'd missed off.
This has only happened to a maximum 10, out of 150-200 uses. So nothing major but having it fixed would be awesome.

More is available on the Codeplex's "Issue Tracker" page, as well as steps to reproduce and steps taken to try and fix it.

... and nice work for those who do but are just plain lazy. I've been hoping that a new version of ABGX would surface and automate the process that this tool does. Still... no Force SSv2 option so this is appreciated. I now return you to the negative posts this thread is needlessly breading.

I think Scuba's issue is down to the word "online" in the first line of the first post.  Perhaps moderating the post is in order?

Other than that, I don't really see the difference in discussing this tool as news vs. ABGX or other similar apps.  The author isn't advising anyone to take backups online, although his tool would supposedly make it safer to do so, which is what most people think ABGX is intended to do.

My personal opinion is anyone who hasn't got a second legit console for XBL is just going to get what they deserve eventually anyway, and that approach renders all of these tools pretty much useless.

So this program would technically NOT be allowed to have a news post etc., but the other programs which unlock DLC are? That would be blatant piracy wouldn't it?

I disagree - DLC is DRM locked and if you've purchased it on one, you should be able to use it on another without having to sign into Xbox Live to do so.

What's so hard about using your original game when you want to play online?

nice work automating this for those who don't know how.

Exactly why I wrote it. Mainly for people on a community -who I'm not going to mention considering this thread- who are not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I suppose you drive a car to work/shops instead of walking? What's wrong with simplifying the process, it need not be a chore.  laugh.gif

You don't really need Visual Studio, you can just use Visual C# 2010 Express (free from MS's website), and you don't even need that! Just go to the Codplex, click the changeset you wanna view and you can browse the source on the web.  smile.gif

Thanks for all the positive feedback, I've had close to 900 downloads, so i'm doing something right!  laugh.gif

I'm pretty sure that an early version of something similar(4 ppl using hotswap/DVD-rom rip method) that allowed Dl'ing of SS's got shut-down as M$ claimed copyright infringement, which I guess it kinda is as they prolly claim intellectual property etc..
I suppose it can still be used for patching backups as opposed to furthering P2P piracy behavior, which not having an SS is kinda conducive to...
I'm aware AGBX purports to offer similar, but it's primary purpose is verification. If your thinking that gong thru and patching an entire collection with ssv2 is going to assure you wont get flagged for ban then I think it would more than likely have effects to the contrary in many instances. This also assumes that the angle error wasn't due to  intentional M$ error, which may expose a hole with FW compensation or whatever .. not to mention the potential PFI/DMI combos etc..

Good on you for having a go, looks like you put significant effort in to a decent app(would benefit from full offline version - think about it ;-) but I think we would all be wise to heed the lessons of the past ....

I'm not sure what "something similar" you're referring to, but this app is just a downloader. If Microsoft were to go after someone for copyright infringement, it would be the site (ABGX) hosting the data, not the app that downloads it.  After all, you can download it with Internet Explorer, too.

Wasn't aware AGBX was the host (I've hardly ever had a match for any of my PAL rips, but I was refering to an older site that hosted them for download fm browser) It's been a while since I've really needed to use it for anything as I have decided that patching over what would otherwise be a decent rip from my original, verified and done by myself is a waste of time (Btw, I always thought AGBX could correct/patch the angle w/o donor ss - Maybe I dreamed that)

QUOTE
Did you understand what this is really for?  It's for grabbing SSv2, which a Kreon drive cannot produce.  In no way does that mean the user is a pirate.

Yes I'm aware of that, my answer to that would be: If you have a 360 with FW, then you can use it to rip, I know Kreons are kinda handy(also now fairly rare) but their not the only use for this tool.. P2P can share barebones(smaller file) w/o ISO padding(sometimes less than half the size etc..) besides which: Why would you ever want to patch (Kreon excepted) other than if you didn't have the orig .. The angles I referred to earlier weren't specifically the ones that cause the 0 degree problem, I was referring to patching angles in general as M$ might place deliberate error that might occur in a specific combo of PFI etc.. Which if corrected would provide M$ with unequivocal evidence for justifying ban.. I know it's a stretch as they're prolly polling from/to layer 7(SW) anyway (for want of a better description)

Anyway - Points taken, I feel I have already over-discussed the matter - Sorry to anyone who has taken the time to read it (it's really not my best work)

I guess with hind sight I would not have made my earlier post.

Thanks for this program, not sure what I would do without it. Sad to see this being your last Xbox 360 project, always loved your work.

Glad you like the software!

If there were a way I could now support myself (just moved into my own place  sleep.gif) by writing this software, I would. I have had a lovely chap donate a £10 because he believed that my software has been worth that amount, really made my day.  happy.gif

I'm going to be also releasing a C# ABGX-esque thing I were working on in my spare time, soon.
Should be a good start for some developers who are just learning how the Xbox formats stack up.
Had .dvd checking and what MP2.0 does, as well as downloads ini files I think. Little bits here and thar.

Thanks for the easy-to-use program, Insomnica.

Doe you know if there's any way to check the SS version on a burnt DVD, or will I have to rip the ISO, patch it and burn a new disc to be sure?

You'd have to use ABGX to check burned SS, you obviously can't change static data. smile.gif

But if you found it was bad, you could rerip and use MP2.0 to correct the errors, then reburn.

Every time I try to install I get the following error message

"unable to install or run this application.thia application requires your system to be updated to Microsoft common language runtime version 4.0.30319.0"

Any ideas where I can download Microsoft Common Language Runtime?
Or is there another link to an install version without the need of Microsoft Common Language Runtime?

That'd be .NET Framework 4, my friend! smile.gif

This should do the trick:
