I downloaded your tool and saved it to my download folder and my game was like so-  360 games/gears of war/gears of war.iso so I don't know it was bc of the spaces or “in" to many folders so I just went the easy route and just took my gears folder and made my folder & .iso have no spaces

Ah yeah, readme and main page say "spaces anywhere BUT the iso name". This is a limitation of the exiso.exe where it will not take a argument with spaces in it, even in quotes.

one set of code that is OS independent - Linux / Windows / Mac.

All it needs it a few extra lines and works on MAC, probably works in wine as is, but could be coded for direct Linux with another few lines.

Also almost everyone has java on their systems - I am interested in why you think Java was a bad choice or a negative?

Java is SLOW. .NET is also pretty slow. It NEVER looks nice on ANY OS, as hard as Oracle (formerly Sun) try to make Swing have a good look on Linux and attempt at making it look like Windows and OS X on those platforms (Apple fixes Java because they do not want Oracle to do this work; branding issue).

Also, why does it need to unRAR? Unless you RAR'd up your legitimate backup copy, you got the RARs from somewhere else and that means you downloaded/pirated the game. I thought 'the scene' (this one as in homebrew, not warez scene) was not supporting piracy in any way whatsoever. If you give the tools to unRAR then you are only supporting those who download games and for some odd reason are too lazy to take 2 steps instead of 1 (which is to unRAR then do whatever you need to with the ISO extracted).

How about to360 and you have a pretty Java version of some things that really only exist in .NET for the moment (and Mono SUCKS ASS!). There is no need for this unRAR ability. It just further hurts the scene when the scene states that it does not support piracy.

Truthfully, once I have my ISO, I run ISO2GoD within a VM (because Mono sucks and I use Linux primarily) that runs XP and allow that to upload to a 360 of mine (I have 2).

I still give some credit because this does give Mac users a chance to do what Windows users have been doing without having to use Wine or virtual machines. It could even help me but I much prefer GoD packages.

hey thanks for replying with your two cents! thats understandable and I did have a disclaimer in the first post that I removed regarding the "rar" aspect of the tool, and my reasoning is that I wanted it to work for ANYONE that used it - if you dont have a rar you just use the ISO function.  Yes this could be viewed as a pirate app, but then again so could other scene related stuff - im not debating that, its all about how YOU use it.

Also regarding java being slow - its just passing a command line argument, not launching a space ship so the speed is not really a factor in this app.

I'm glad to see that you removed RAR. I hate removing features because of politics but IMO if you don't have the ISO you got from whatever app you used to dump it, you got it from elsewhere and likelihood is you pirated it.

Let's keep the hombrew scene clean and far removed from the P2P and warez scene.

Would you consider making this output GOD packages in the future?

I am sorry you misread, I did not take out the RAR function but the disclaimer about it in the main thread. Since a 360 ISO has padding - people could very easily be compressing RARs for archiving their ISO's.

I know the rar extractor will be used for piracy but again, I wanted it to work for ANYONE that uses it and I just provide the tool, the user in the end is the one who decides to use it for good or evil.

Regarding progress bars and whatnot - god packaging, I am unsure but maybe. probably not the GoD package because I really dont see the advantage to it - could someone tell me?

hmm I just googled it and GoD is games on demand? Meaning it is just the files without the ISO right?

This is essentially the same thing because its not copying the fluff or padding, just the files so what you end up with is the same exact thing a doing a "GoD method" rip , right?

yes but GOD appear in NXE original dashboard as game, so no need for freestyle dashboard to play it.

Ok, I love this one, but it doesn't seem to work on my PC yet.

I've got Windows 7 (64bit) and also got the AVG warning on the exiso file included in the archive. I know it's a false positive, so this shouldn't be the problem.

Offcource I excluded the file from AVG threads list and then got the software running.

But it takes forever to startup and once it's there and I tried to upload a ISO, it just sits there doing nothing. Maybe this last one is about the filename (have to check back on that) but the startup time made me use the old tools for now.

Just want to inform and help wink.gif keep it up, because when it works it would be a great tool.

MrZodiac:

if you have legit windows, try out Microsoft Security Essentials, its leaps and bounds better than AVG and will not see it as a threat.

I don't know why its taking forever to start up for you - can you give me more details to your problem? Did you make sure there is no space in the ISO name? I am also on win7 64 bit.

Nice job mate!
Anyway, there's a way to delete the extracted iso when the selection is "rar archive" and the ftp transfert are completed? I think is not automatic in your great tool...  blink.gif
