Two noob questions:
1. does this work with .con files or just gamesaves?
2. How do I find the three ID's I need (profile, console, title)
Thanks
1. it will open and attempt to work with any con files, but i cant guarantee that it will work. It was designed around the idea of resigning gamesaves and profiles. I know CONSaver will freeze up on some CON files (such as settings files for games) which is a problem with X360.dll as Le Fluffie has the same problem. If it doesnt freeze up on the save, then it should work.
2. you can find them by creating a new save on the profile/console/device that you want to use and loading it in CONSaver, right click the save and set id's as selected

I spent a solid hour today trying every possible combination I could think of to move my profile from a banned box to a stock one. Looks like the weak link is USB Xtaf Gui. This should have been my first step--I formatted the USB device on the 360 and moved my profile to it, then restarted the 360 to verify it was working as expected. I then used USB Xtaf Gui to extract the profile to my computer, deleted it from USB and copied it back with USB Xtaf Gui, without modifying the profile at all. Put the USB drive in the 360, fired it up and it would not load. The 360 says there is 1 profile available, but the gamerscore is 0 and the avatar is a shadow figure. Trying to load the profile does nothing at all. I guess I'm the only person trying to do things that way.
Oh well--I'll probably just get a new 360, mod it and keep it offline forever.
could also be the usb stick, have you tried a different one? if so, report the bug the Xtaf GUI guys.

It's not a profile, it's a Mass Effect 1 save. It looks like it's down to the save being half done previously (ids changed but not-resigned.. "file is in use" error). Re-extracted the save from the original console and it's not being skipped now, thanks.
The actual kv.bin I want to use is "the wrong size" though (16,896 bytes), so can't actually test it all the way through yet. Does anyone know why two different tools produce different kv files? Is there any way to convert one to the other?
ah, i havnt added a check to see if the file is resigned or not yet, it only resigns if it Edits the ID's. im dreading adding at as X360.dll is a pain to work with.
Depending on where you get the kv.bin from, it can be decrypted or encrypted, some also add the first 16 bytes from the nand (as the KV.bin is stored at 0x1 in the nand, not 0x0) so some dump from 0x0, some dump from 0x1. if it was dumped from 0x0 then you can delete the first 16 bytes using a hex editor, but imo its easier to to dump the kv.bin with ibuild which produces the correct file size
