Not trying to hijack this thread I just think either of you two could give me a quick answer to this question:

Does freeboot replace xbr? In other words do i reflash with freeboot and can I still use autolaunch?

Currently I have XBR_3 on a Jasper 256 with xellous and quicklaunch.

I'm not sure I understand what freeboot is.

I've been wondering the same thing too.  I have XBR on my system now, but it sounds like I can use freeBoot now since it no longer requires a secondary nand.  Sounds like FreeBoot is replacing XBR though...

No it's not.... freeboot was always around, even before XBR

Still though, what is it? Is it a nand replacement? Does it replace XBR? Can I do all the same stuff with Freeboot as I can do with XBR? I'm asking because I have a nonmodded box that has the newest kernel on it and I can't play mulitplayer MW2 on my local LAN because XBR is different kernel.

Looks easy enough.  Looking forward to switching from XBR3, what with all the game freezing issues I'm having.

Question:
How does one generate the SMC.BIN to be used?

Yes it will replace XBR with 2.0.9199.0 and can do the same things as XBR can + a little more.

he was right though. its replacing xbr because xbr was the only single nand solution before. and now that the new cygnos chip doesnt have dual nand anymore, obviously freeboot was gonna have to support it as freeboot/cygnos pretty much goes hand in hand it seems wink.gif

Jasper 16mb with the older southbridge (correct version of XBR3 used).

Freezing/slowdown issues are known with XBR3 when playing certain games.  Some people can't even load some games.

I've been having issues with Darksiders.

Question:  How do I generate SMC.BIN to use with easy Freeboot?  360 flash tool generates SMC_dec and SMC_enc bins.  Am I supposed to rename one of these?

Really I have a Jasper with XBR3 and I have NO issues whatsoever...Played and beat darksiders also. I'm waiting on xbr4 b/c it seems like a hassle to change to freeboot plus the 9199 kernel doesn't offer anything I need now
