New Cygnos Beta Toolbox able to patch 'certain images'
Posted by XanTium | January 24 14:17 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Team Cygnos released a new Cygnos toolbox (beta) that allows to patch 'certain images' to work with the Cygnos360 V2. In other words, the Cygnos360 v2 will now not only work with freeBOOT, but also with XBReboot images:
Quote

"Certain" images floating around the internet make it necessary to patch the KV and SMC in order to run on Cygnos360 V2. This toolbox adds all the required functions to easily accomplish this task. The "Program Flash" dialog now allows you to specify a patched SMC and KV to inject into the image on the fly. A patched SMC can be created with the "Patch SMC" dialog, if the SMC from your original image is known to the toolbox. If this is not the case, there are pre-patched SMCs available "at the usual places".

Another dialog "Extract KV" has been added, which will simply dump the KV from your original image (Remember to use the "Patch SMC" and "Extract KV" dialogs only with original images, they won't work otherwise).

Please note, that this is beta software! It should only be tested by experienced users.
Have fun with this new toolbox and please report any bugs!

freeBOOT & XBReboot ?

Yes, Team Cygnos for some reason does not allow ANY type of discussion about rebooters whatsoever associated with their device. Their forums are on lockdown when it comes to discussion about ANY rebooter with their product, so I'm surprised they even came out with something like this.

So what does this mean to a n00b?
Do you need need the KV key then? Does this mean that you can use it on the latest console without doing a Jtag? Meaning that, if you updated to the latest and "greatest" dashboard, you can recover the DVD key from the mobo???

All this means is that they've integrated functions from NANDPro to make it easier for you to make your XBR or FreeBOOT image without having to use DOS commands.

Because they do not have anything to do with the images and they do not want to have nothing to with the either offically (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

So, is XBR or Freeboot best?

@amexie: yes, but there are a lot of people with a cygnos in their box (like me) who want support for their chips.

so i say that are great news, never thougt that team cygnos released this, cause they dont "like" those rebooters.

but if they want to sell some cygnos chips anymore they should make some really new things that make it usefull now.

Just follow this guide:

http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=13705.0

dump your hack.bin from 360 NAND.
patch with the appropriate file for your console
flash back to your 360 NAND.

All done - you can now run XBR images.

I feel kinda bad for people who adopted this 'certain' chip before the evil xbr started getting good.

domina's got a point - need to start making that 'certain' chip look like it can do it's own tricks.

There is NO point anymore in purchasing a Cygnosv2 flash board.  Its not only obsolete, but more difficult to install underside of the consoles MOBO.  These recent freeware rebooters and the ability to flash the TSOP (i.e. nand) via LPT and now even faster updating methods with USB/Gentoo makes Cygnos v2 unecessary IMHO, escpecially for new consoles being exploited for their first time.

Also their forums are not very helpful and they do not openly discuss rebooters, and their moderators are not the best either ; these guys seem to enjoy flaming their customers when they ask for simple technical support answers.  I observed that recently and as such I would NEVER purchase one of their products.

poor attitude and obsolete product, but good windows based software

Well I for one will get this chip. It feels more secure not to touch the original NAND and have it untouched.
