FreeXex QuickBoot v0.2
« Reply #60 on: January 07, 2010, 05:02:00 PM »

A couple days ago I figured out a way to make the quickboot game file show up in the dashboard as 'Xbox 360 Game' instead of game demo.  It is pretty simple and doesn't require the sdk.  Thanks to help from EatonZ in this thread: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=701148.

1.  Create a shortcut file with quickboot v2 like normal.
2.  Open in hex editor and change 0x344 from 00 08 00 00 to 00 00 70 00 and save
3.  Open in Le Fluffie app and go to security tab.  Check sign for LIVE devkit and then fix.
4.  Copy to hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00007000

This won't show acheivements but it will look more legit than having all your games show up as demos.

Oh good stuff! smile.gif

Will get updated quickboot out in a few hours that does this automatically.

Then depending on DJ's success we will be able to convert nxe copied games to games on demand games in the future so achievements show.

New build of QuickBoot is done that supports games on demand containers.

File size has also been cut down to a quarter of the original size, 200ish kb in stead of 800kb. Also if you can't get a certain container to work (i.e You've entered in the path wrong etc. but are sure you have it right  rolleyes.gif then it will output debug info to the root of usb stick as debug.log to tell you what you've done wrong).

Will get up on Xbins shortly a long with XS news etc.

I will get the new version anyway it will save messing about hex editing.

Sweet well with that I can create a gui to convert hdd installed game to games on demand game. All the benefits of a nxe installed game but without needing the disk smile.gif

For the QuickBoot I released today I added a new package type enum to the x360.dll source:

GamesOnDemand = 0x7000,

Then just simply specify it as the package type when generating the QuickBoot files and the Xbox accepts them.

x360.dll has been updated.  Is creating games on demand containers possible now without needing the sdk?

EDIT:  Looked at the new LeFluffie and Games on Demand is now supported as well as HDD Install containers.

I'd say so. Will get an app out in the next 24 hours that converts nxe copied games to games on demand so you can see all your achieves etc and launch from nxe without needing the disc. Cheers for the heads up!

One question.  Will you be able to create a XEX to directly convert an installed game to Games on Demand on the 360 or will we have to copy the installed game to the PC and convert it there?

Copy to pc. I don't have the skill/time/motivation to port x360.dll to c++ and the 360. I tried, got a little way through, then gave up smile.gif

Just for you ccfman2004 smile.gif

I'll have an app out soon, Le fluffie can do it right now but I'll make an app specifically to do it easy and quickly.
