FreeXex QuickBoot v0.2
Posted by XanTium | December 21 19:59 EST | News Category: Xbox360

FreeXeX released a bug-fix release for their QuickBoot application released earlier today/yesterday.
This new version fixed a bug on XP where the png's had to be in the same directory as quickboot.exe or it would crash.

About QuickBoot:
Quote

QuickBoot allows you to build "short cut" LIVE containers that will allow you to launch applications directly from NXE.

The three main advantages of this are:
* Saves time by loading the application directly, rather than having to use XexLoader to browse the file tree and find the executable.
* Bypasses the 4GB size limit on live containers as you're not actually storing the application data in the live container, merely making a shortcut to it.
* Allows you to load applications off of external hard drives etc. straight from NXE.

Download: n/a (contains files built with XDK)

This works great.  I just wish the game would be listed under Full Games instead of Demos.

i cant believe how fast the scene is moving now.  i got a lot of catching up to do.  It wasnt that long ago since the whole jtag hack and now look at it.  I'm loving the progress.

So do I need to do any hardware modification to take advantage of the USB loader?

Thanks

The only hardware modification is the JTAG wiring and Freeboot or XBReboot installed.

Is that fairly straight forward on most consoles and are there any good tuts around?

do you have an exploitable kernel?  it must be manufactured before 18-06-2009 and have not been update to or past the summer '09 update...

I'm then seriously unlucky as I have a brand new console only made on the 11-01-09 (November)

There surely must be another way to downgrade the dashboard software first.

no, you´re screwed. When you updated your console, MS fixed the jtag exploit with a new bootloader and banned the old bootloader from working on your console (by blowing a e-fuse). So even if you were able to somehow revert to the old dashboard, it wouldn´t load anymore. You would have a chance if you had your cpukey extracted (which isn´t possible to extract anymore after the upgrade), but since you upgraded, there´s no turning back.
