USB programmer got here today.. I can't program it til I get my wigger clone.

Then I am off to USB reading and writing.

Any slick tutorials for using the 2 ports on the bottom of the programmer.  I saw someone's Xbox who had the headers installed so the UBS reader can just be plugged right onto the box.

Seem to be having problems detecting the lpc board when i run h-jtag, have follwed the tutorial step by step connected the jtag 20pin wiggler to my olimex board then connected to the lpt port on my PC then used a printer usb cable to power up connecting this to another pc, get  3 lights on my board red, green and amber
when i start h-jtag unable to find target.
Checked the lpt port settings in h-jtag it is on lp1 0x378 and when u click on port testing it comes up with msg "selected port works well"
Tried the little reset button on the board but all this does is switch the green and amber lights off when pressed then they come back on as soon as u let go, i assume this is used to put it into isp mode when using the seriel shiffter, any advice would be welcome.

Hello folks. Great tutorial!

I am having the problem of I cant seem to get the device recognized in h-jtag. I have the

     1. phillips lpc2148 (ARM) Header board, USB, Jtag. http://microcontrollershop.com/product_inf...be1908d25a337c6

     2. ARM JTAG Debugger & Programmer, parallel port http://microcontrollershop.com/product_inf...be1908d25a337c6

All the lights (3) light up and they blink when I try and detect it, nothing ever gets detected.

I have tried the settings suggested for the alternate device and still no luck, The port says it should be working.

Is there something else I need to do? remove a jumper? Install a driver?

I have tried with the usb hooked up the pc, another pc, an off xbox everytime the lights seem to work and blink but nothing ever happens. I even tried several differnt options just to try but nothing did much so I stopped.

I know the lpt port works as Ive dumped many a nand off it.

Thanks for any input anyone might be able to give. I have another wiggler coming but from china and will be a bit I imagine.

Also may i Ask the difference between the olimex and the ebay? they definitely look different. It appears there's a button on the ebay version?

What Ebay one? You mean the one I have in my tutorial? If so, the pinouts are slightly different which is why you have the alternate layout.

Much appreciated on the quick reply!  this thread has been simply fantastic for helping me out so far (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Yea, I am speaking of the one you have linked in the tutorial. I have one on order from the virtual village-usa store which seems to be the same site just a different location/country pricing. I don't expect it to be here for a week or more though.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I absolutely cannot get this 2148 to detect.  I have tried quite a few options now and I am starting to think there is something wrong with the wiggler or the 2148 itself. Everything seems to be what I would think is normal. The mouse demo works if usb is plugged into the pc, so I assume the board and usb are working. which leads me to think it must be the wiggler.

When I try and detect the device, depending on what settings I am trying, sometimes the yellow and green light flash, sometimes they don't. Then with other options they flash and stay off till I readjust the settings to something different. I have tried many options under the lpt jtag settings.

I tried to look at the layout page for the wiggler and use the info off that, but some of the pins on the page are not even an option in h-jtag. Here is the layout page I am referring to.
http://www.olimex.com/dev/pdf/arm-jtag.pdf

(IMG:http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy270/liquidbings/2148%20issues/2148008.jpg)

Two (2) differences I noticed as well:

(1) The options I was told to use on the page I bought the device from are reversed from what was suggested here and on the olimex site.

This is what is listed on the page I bought it off.

To set up H-JTAG to work with the ARM-JTAG, use Jtag Selection "Wiggler (Predefined)", Reset Signal Output  "nTRST output inverted", nTRST "Pin2 D0", and nSRST "Pin6 D4".

This is what is suggested here/olimex

(IMG:http://www.olimex.com/dev/images/ARM/H-JTAG-settings.gif)

I tried both ways and one way makes the lights blink and the other causes the lights to stay off till I change the setting back.

(2) I tried a couple versions of h-jtag and everytime I have an extra option in lpt jtag settings of TCK Control That I dont see in anyone elses pictures of settings.

(IMG:http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy270/liquidbings/2148%20issues/2148003.jpg)

I even went as far as to try different settings in bios (changing them back to what they were originally in the end).

Here are some more pictures of how I have things set up. Thank you kindly for any help anyone may be able to provide I am quite lost at this point.

Ok - if you're seeing flickering lights then the Wiggler is definitely trying to ID the header board. Combine that with the fact the when you connect via USB you get the mouse demo, I would say that all parts are working, just not talking to each other.

Send me a link of exactly where you bought the Wiggler from.

Also, confirm which version of H-JTAG you're using.
