The X value is used as a visual indication of security "events". It is visually displayed from dashboard in one of the system info screens.

ps: well, i got that error below because my console number in system settings (used for test xval) is diffirent than the console number in back of xbox case (= console number in xbox 360 box). that's strange.

I've never changed xbox case, main or do something like that.

This error is generally a typo in either the console serial number or the X value.

Ok I got how to use XVal to find out if console is banned or not.

But what is the other program for, Xbox Image Browser.

How do you use the Image Browser?

p.s. in readme is says
"This application allows file extraction from xbox xdvdfs iso's."  This is unrelated to finding out anything about banning , right?  Why would we use it?

Im intregued. This basically says that if the secdata is clean then the xbox isnt flagged for banning BUT whats to say that it isnt flagged on M$ servers next time u connect? I guess what I am getting at is:

Does M$ use the dashboard to monitor for drive mods and then flags this number and then the data is sent to M$ or does live send data to the xbox to modify this value and thus the dashboard will disable all live features on next boot?

I think that makes sense :S

Edit: BTW the program works fine on Win7 64bit with no need for extra files.

Will this tool give you the right information (banned or not banned) if you are not up to date with the updates?
I haven't connected my Xbox from July 2009 and it says that I'm not banned. Does this mean that i'm not banned, or do I first have to update to te newest version (install the updates from USB)?

And if I'm flagged and I will install the updates via USB, will it cripple my HDD directly or do i have to go online to cripple my hdd?

It should give you banned or not.
You have dashboard under 8000, so I would NOT download updates and think about getting your  NAND and think hard if you would ever want to do linux and other hacks on your 360, if you get NEW dashboard you lose that ability and if you get new updates and you have flashed your 360 it will flag you and ban you.  We have no firmware out that can not be detected yet.

"DVD Keyvault Pair Mismatch"

If I'm understanding this correctly, the value of this program has been multiplied by this feature.

I'll try and test it when I go home tonight but can anyone confirm if this app will tell you if the key on your DVD drive does not match the DVD key stored in the NAND?

From what I gather just from the news link, it does the exact same thing as xbox backup creator. The guy made it independently for his friend (probably before backup creator existed) but never released it to the public...he feels like he might as well release it rather than have it sit on his HD, so there it is.

I believe that error indicates that at some point a drive was connected to that motherboard which had a DVD Key that did not match the value stored in the motherboard.
