you should try and use the xplorer360 extreme 2 version, cause that one still seemed to be able to add and delete stuff, but it just wouldn't see stuff

how are you plugging the drive into your computer?

I had to use one of the mini-usb to SATA power/data thingies that I ripped out of an external hard drive, and it showed up immediately, but wouldn't with the standard SATA conection

OH sorry, didn't see you were able to do some stuff, yeah it was pretty buggy for me, and the second drive I was doing gave me errors, but it still worked, so? I was able to import full folders

I could use extreme2 to copy over partition2 (the xbox emulator) but if I used it for partition3, it corrupted the drive.

I'll give it another go tomorrow, it's like two in the morning here.

I have an old 20gig kicking around, if I put a 250 gig drive in it, can I use the hard drive upgrade kit to copy the contents of the 120gb to the 250gb?

No, I mean it's not copying. Like, if I do a "new folder", that'll show up, but importing a folder won't. Yeah, even after restarting the program. Or, for that matter, after taking the drive and plugging it into my 360.

For some reason drag& drop won't work for me so I need to go through the menus. Are the menus broken? Is that it?
I was able to drag and drop a folder full of subfolders totaling almost 12 gigs. Try reformatting the drive in your 360. Especially if you ever tried to use the xtreme2 version to write to partition 3.

so guys quick question- which tool should I use to restore partiotion 2  (Xbox 1 Emulator) on a 250gb?

Or in which order should I go?

format hdd  in 360, restore part2 with extreme2 and copy part3 stuff over with patched 250gb xplorer?

thx in advance

I was able to drag and drop a folder full of subfolders totaling almost 12 gigs. Try reformatting the drive in your 360. Especially if you ever tried to use the xtreme2 version to write to partition 3.

I did that. Here's what I did, basically:

1. boot up PC with hddhackr USB stick
2. connect the 250GB drive to PC
3. run hddhackr, flashing and creating partitions
4. turn off PC
5. connect the 250GB drive to 360
6. drive shows up, format it
7. boot up PC to Windows
8. connect the 250GB drive to PC
9. run xplorer360 (your hacked version)
10. click on "partition 3" (shows a name.txt and a Cache folder)
11. click on "Inject Folder..."
12. click on one of the folders I backed up from the 20GB drive (say, "Content").
13. wait approximately forever
14. watch in horror as the "Injecting Folder..." box closes and yet the folder doesn't show up in the partiton contents listing
16. restart xplorer360 and see that it's still not there
17. connect the 250GB drive to 360
18. "No storage device detected"
19. contemplate suicide
20. restart from step 1

I've gone through this a couple times now. I've found out that if I use xtreme2 to restore partition 2 (between steps 8 and 9), the drive still works afterwards (the 360 still recognizes it at this point), but nothing I do seems to get the partition3 stuff over.

When I try to drag and drop anything into the xplorer360 window, my mouse cursor just turns into the "no" symbol, so I need to use the menus. I'm wondering if this is part of the problem.

What operating system is everyone using? I'm on Win 7 64-bit, could that be it?

Drag and drop requires 'run as admin'.

I don't see anything wrong with your steps, and I'm on Win7x64 as well. The only issue is why you cant drag and drop content into Xplorer. Are you running it with admin rights? If so, maybe you can't drag copy from a windows folder that's in effect running with different permissions. I can't swear that the inject feature works because I don't use it and didn't test it. But there are loads of people reporting success with the tool so far, your experience is definitely unique in some way.

Edit: Ahh, looks like someone else had the same "run as admin" complications thought as me. That must be what's going on. Try doing that, or giving your account admin privs.

I dont think so, but then again, Microsoft says it works for smaller to larger HDD, so give it a shot, what could go wrong other than the thing just giving you an error saying "suck it"

Hey all, I've been following the thread, is the BIN still needed for the homebrew mod?

uhm yeah, that's exactly what i said i'd be doing. it worked when i transferred the contents of my 20gb hdd to the 120gb hacked hdd

pros: no messing around with semi-buggy software like xplorer

cons: you need a second xbox hdd lying around, so you can use the SATA to (whatever they named the HDD plug) cable for the the connection

@k1llerhornet: yeap i plan to try that out, once i get my hands on one of these drives. probably in ~1 1/2 weeks. will post back here with results.

I reformatted my WD HDD (that was previously flashed to make it a 120GB HDD), flashed the 250GB hddss.bin to it using hddhackr then copied all the stuff to it and it worked. My question is, should I have flashed it with hddhackr first and then reformatted or does it matter that I reformatted and then flashed it with hddhackr?

I didn't have this problem and never formated my 250GB drive with the 360. I flashed and formatted with the new Hddhackr, slapped it in the 360 to verify it worked then transferred over all my stuff from my 120GB. The only thing that didn't transfer were my profiles and some saves like DOA4, Fable 2 and Forza 2 (known limitation).

I also tried 120GB->250GB with MS 20 GB transfer kit and no go for me.
