Hi,
I might sound noob (I am...), but after spending an hour reading through the forum I could not find a tutorial to backup the game saves from the HDD.
I have a 20GB hard drive and I want to backupthe saves as I think the Hard drive is giving up on me... It makes strange noises from time to time...
Anyways, I got an adapter that would allow me to hook it up to the pc using a SATA cable. I have onboard SATA and also a PCI card with SATA on a VIA chipset.
My question is: what is the partition that I need to backup?
I presently have a game on the hard drive, so I would not want to backup the partition with the game, only the saves and my profile...
Thanks in advance!
Assuming you already know how to hook up the 360 drive I recommend doing a complete backup just in case your drive fails, you can use one of two programs or both, XPORT from the XSATA kit works great for just this purpose
XPORT or you can use Xplorer360
Xplorer360 There may be acute differences in the software themselves but they accomplish the same exact result in my opinion. Backing up your entire drive is easy just go to the Backup option and follow the on screen directions. I personally prefer XPORT because it was built for commercial intent whereas Xplorer360 is still in beta even though it is near perfect as is.
If you just want to backup game saves go to Partition 3 Content the folders listed there are your Gamertag Profiles, within that folder is the game folders all of which have unique folder names which do not actually tell you what gamertag or game they coorelate to, I'm sure there's a list somewhere so you would know but I don't know of any.
