hi frosty great work on your Modification USB Drive!

my lite on drive is already flashed with 1.5 ixtreme. (flashed with payment from someone)

but i have a problem. my mobo has a sata connection but i cant seem to find it in my device manager.
before when i tried pluging my sata cable from my pc to my xbox 360. powered my 360, then my pc. then while it turning on, i saw the head of the cable connected to the pc getting BURNED! (smoked like hell!)
did i just plugged it the wrong way?
or was it just the device manager not recognizing the sata on it and caused it to burn? because of it receiving unknown voltages.

Sounds like you smoked your power cable. (easily done by connecting the 360 DVD-ROM power cable in upside-down)

Your SATA cable would not have been the one that burned. SATA cables don't carry power AFAIK, only data signals.

Assuming your Lite-On drive is still okay, you can always try again. If you do not have a VT6421 sata card though (which I assume you don't have because you are referring to the SATA ports on your motherboard) then you will need to look in a different place in your Device Manager.

Did you use ck3 or xbox for powering the drive?? If you use xbox then did ground it to PC properly??

Hi guys I got an Asus P5E-VM HDMI mobo, and im trying to flash my benq, its all set up except when i boot it in dos i dont really understand the steps like the comm and port and all that so i put random or nothing and at the part to turn on the xbox to and press y its not there just some no port error or something. Any help to get this working would be much appreciated. also using dos-flash and on vista x64

You need to find out what the SATA port for your SATA card/chipset is. (the com port doesn't matter though for BenQ/Samsung drives)

Follow the tutorial included in the original RAR file called 'Finding the port for your VT6421 card' to find out what your SATA port is.

Awesome! I'm glad my software has worked well for you. smile.gif

The 'Lite-On RS232-TTL.jpg' diagram is nothing but a homemade CK3 lite-style spear. If you already own a CK3 and spear then all you need is a serial cable and you are set, nothing more is required to modify Lite-On drives.

Just follow the steps in the Lite-On modification process and you can modify any Lite-On drive just as easily as the BenQ drives. biggrin.gif
Yes, that is normal, you need to have a 2GB flash drive or smaller to use FAT.

However, you can use FAT32 if you want, you just NEED to use the MS-DOS boot files instead of the FreeDOS ones (FreeDOS doesn't support FAT32 with my software, but MS-DOS does). happy.gif

thanks frost! its cool that you take the time to answer all the normal joe soaps that use your software!

Just try using the first one, which is 'cc00' without the quotes.

If it doesn't work try each port listed, or try switching the SATA port that your cable is physically connected to on your motherboard/SATA card.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the power more than once on the 'Status 0x80' screen?

yeah, and turning off the whole xbox and back on too. would be easy to know what port is what sata, mine shows 12 ports 0_0
so i gave in and ordered a via, maybe its just not compatible with mine on this mobo

Yes, that is most likely the issue.

Your new VIA card should fix the issues you are having. happy.gif

Well, don't skip any steps, that's not good.

The only step you can skip is the COM port screen, because you have a BenQ not a Lite-On.

Also, when you get your VIA card you need to make sure you open the Device Manager in Windows again and find out what port the VIA card is.

Yes, you can use the VIA card with Lite-On drives.

However, you also need a serial probe. You can either make your own (with the included diagram) or you can order a CK3 Lite w/Probe. happy.gif

P.S. The serial probe is only needed with Lite-On drives, Samsung/BenQ drives do not need it.
