is this everything i need to do a lite-on, or this doesnt come with the probe?

You will need a probe too, the CK3 Lite doesn't normally include one.

I'm having the same issue as LiGhTMaGiCk pretty much. I am also new at this and I am getting a lockup if I power the XBOX 360 when the instructions say, no ctrl + alt + del, etc. it just locks up. If I have the 360 powered on when I turn my PC on and boot from USB it will get one screen past the push any button screen to continue screen. However it will just hang when I choose yes to keep sending the request to read/dump my firmware; even after I power the DVD drive on and off. My drive is a Benq and I am using a VIA 6421 PCI SATA card. I have also tried using the same card in my wife's PC and the revision 1.6 CD to boot from(it is unable to boot from a flash drive) but it has the exact same problem. I am wondering if I am just making a stupid noob user error here or what. I would greatly appreciate some help on this as I keep ramming my against the wall on this onejava script:emoticon without being able to figure it out. Also I do have the right I/O range for the card; I got it the way the instructions told me too.

This should be an easy fix, I just need a beta tester.

I sent LiGhTMaGiCk a PM about beta testing a new version for me, but I have yet to hear back from him.

Would you (brawlie) be interested in testing the new version for me too?

Let me know, you are welcome to PM me. happy.gif

Indeed I do plan on integrating the 83850c solution in a fully automatic form into both the USB and CD based versions of my software.

I do not have an ETA at the moment, but I would imagine it will be available within less than a month or so. smile.gif

I didn't know if you got my email or not, FrostyTheSnowman, so I figured I'd post here as well. I have still been unable to flash my BenQ drive with the beta version you sent me. However, the installation doesn't lock-up so bad that I can't press ctrl + alt + del any more. If you have any other other suggestions or sofware revisions you want me to try please let me know.

Cool, thanks for beta testing for me.

I have another new beta version I would like you to try, check your e-mail and reply back if you could.

Thanks! happy.gif

OK so I have exauseted all my efforts to make this work. I have flashed 3 drives with 1.6r3 and they have worked flawlessly. but recently my buddy asked me to do his ms-28 and I said sure not a problem.(big Mistake)

everything works great up untill the point where it would normaly ask me to turn off the xbox and back on. as soon as I step of the GUI screen it gives me a bunch of crap about how to proberly use dosflash as if I had entered a comand wrong but as you know the commands are entered for me.

I have remade the usb drive multible times and redownloaded it to make sure it wasent me.

help me frosty

ps I am all about beta.

Can you tell me what error you are getting specifically?

I have never heard of a problem like the one you are experiencing, if you can give me details on the error it would be a big help.

Also, have you done any other Samsung drives before? Like perhaps an MS25 instead of an MS28?

Also, what chipset are you using, and what port?

Ok I got my via, it has 2 sata ports I can use any? and in device manager it shows like 10 different EE00, EE80 ect, i just have to keep restarting my pc and putting each one in as a guess when flashing?

Yes, unfortunately it is a shot in the dark at which port is the correct one for your machine.

Most likely the first one is correct, and the 'outer' SATA port (the one closest to the inside of your case) is the SATA port you should be using. (of course, you can try using the other one too)

So the port inside my case? not the one out the back?

Correct, the internal port (master port) seems to be the most compatible with my software. (and all DosFlash-based software, which my software is based on)

I am using a via 6421a it has worked fine multiple times with smasung ms25's and ms28's now no matter what I try when I get to the point where it normaly sais port failed or whatever and then you hit y to retry it never makes it there. istead right after the GUI screen where it tells you how to plug ev3erything in I get this. sorry about the huge image I didnt want to type all that and it needed to be big enough to read.

Interesting, this is the first I have ever heard of this.

Instead of connecting your MS28 drive to your card and then changing screens, just go through the screens with *no* drive connected and see if the error still comes up.

My guess is that something is wrong with your SATA card, and for some reason is unable to communicate with your drive.

And, you are 100% positive that you have not modified the samsung files in any way? Because the 'firmware validation' text seems to be missing... it should tell you that the firmware dump failed and restart...

Yes, I plan to release Revision 4 sometime this week or next week, with full support for Lite-On 83850c drives. happy.gif

doesnt matter if there is a drive connected or even a card installed it never makes it to the poit where it would look at the card. it is litteraly right after the GUI screen where it normaly starts checking the port for a drive. I have redownloaded q.6r3 several times to make sure it was not me and I have rebuilt the stick at least 10 times combing over your tutorial to make sure I didnt make some dumb, simple mistake. the stick apears to be flawless but I went ahaed and grabed another stick just to be sure and same problem. I do need to mention I am using the ms-dos files as I only have sticks above 2gb.

i do get a wierd message right as it boots but it is really fast about a memory manager already installed and somethign about yours not installing or something. hope that is a clue. I read somewhere that if you cant install a mem manager you need to disable l2 cache on the processor but I have no option in my bios ( sad as its a bad ass board). even my boards from years ago have this option.

since I already f'd up the fourm on this page I thought you might want to see the next page it gives me

Ok, do me a favor and see if you can access the T: drive, which is the temp drive.

If the T: drive cannot be accessed then that is the problem, it is most likely a memory error. (as you mentioned)

Have you tried using Revision 2? It has the 'older' memory manager, which might work better for you.

Also, can you try using a stick below 2gb? I know you don't have one, but could you try and borrow one just to test?

OK I will give it a try with rev 2 today and if that doesnt work I will get a smaller stick. what is puzzling to me is that it had been working on this computer and nothing has chaged. i used it a week ago but then it started failing this week. I dont ever gointo bios so nothing should have chaged there. hmm puzzling.

You could also try setting your BIOS to the default settings and see if anything changes...

Lots of things can affect DOS-based memory management unfortunately. sad.gif
