funny, i spent an hour or more on chat with someone telling me i should always run my own backups through abgx360.  I said they always return yellow, because they don't have my info in the database.  Well i choose to just use what I have and I'm glad I did.  If you backup your own stuff this software is not really needed.  It's a good source of information or as a double check, but keep the crcs from your own rips.

I think people are missing an important point.

If something like this happens, we shouldnt have to delete ini files to fix it. Running the tool again should be enough.

I'm not saying this because I am too lazy to delete, I just think it might get noticed more....

At first I was disappointed but then sometimes shit happens so cant hold them responsible if I get banned probably not since I have only played 1 game that has a corrupt DMI. I'm actually more disappointed because I burned it on a verbatim.

The point of using ABGX360 is to make sure no one is using a backup that was created poorly.
Everyone that says if you use your own blah blah blah, there is no need for software like this, I'm willing to bet the farm you use ABGX regularly. Even if you dont have it "autofix".

What I'm getting at is, why not upload your verified retail games to the database?
I'm sure it could easily solve any future problems that may arise.

Let me add that piracy is NO GOOD FOR ANYONE and that shouldn't be what we are discussing here.

This has everything to do with piracy. You'll only get anyDVD corruption if you're...running anyDVD when you rip your original (or when you re-rip your pirated game like this guide tells you how to do, probably). I've seen people get suspended for *asking* how to do this, and now it's a front page news article. If you rip your own games (with the latest software), abgx360 is essentially useless to you, even if it does patch your ISO.

I use ABGX360 to verify my game crc's since I use an older samsung drive (installed in my PC drive bay) and I don't know when the lazer is going to die.

It does have it's uses for people that make their own backups, and just because your method is flawless doesn't mean everyone elses method is.

Has anyone here ever been to a head shop?  Sure, they sell bongs, and all kind of marijuana smoking equipment, but you can't talk about smoking weed with their products... you can't even call them "bongs"; has to be "water pipe"...  Everyone knows the truth though.  We gotta keep things "legal" here too in the same way.

Anyway, I make all my own backups.  I still check every one of my backups with ABGX, and I don't use autofix level 3 for any region free games.  I suggest others do the same when creating your own backups for the following two reasons:
1) I think ABGX's database has mostly PAL releases for RF games.  With an RF game, the game CRC is the same between regions, but DMI is usually different.  ABGX doesn't worry about regions at all with RF games, so it might patch your RF-NTSC game with RF-PAL DMI or SS.  Most people are fine with playing RF-PAL backups on NTSC systems, but I just don't like the idea.  Nobody is getting banned for that as far as I know, but Microsoft could probably use that data to track piracy (because I'm sure most, but not all, people playing RF-PAL games on an NTSC console are playing with hacked firmwares)..  So, that's why I never autofix region free games, but region restricted games are OK to autofix (in my opinion of course)
2) WTF am I checking my own backups with ABGX?  Bad angles.  I have only had one so far, but ABGX will preform bad angle checks on the SS in the ISO.  It also preforms a bunch of other general checks that should be pretty much the same in every ISO.  A worn ripping drive or tons of other things can cause a bad rip.  So, even if you don't use autofix, it's good to check your own backups for general errors (which are still extremely rare in my case).

Oh they could.
And M$ certainly spotted this Abgx flaw and will have an special care for those corrupt DMIs in the next ban wave.

What a shame, Abgx.

(Oh but it's free and everybody knew the risks bla bla bla)

Yes, it could lead to bans.  I don't think anyone outside of Microsoft knows for sure at this point.  But if there were no greater risk of being banned from these bad DMIs, this would not be a news item.  From reading older posts, it seems Microsoft often likes to ban in waves.  So you could have been tagged for a ban, but not banned yet.  I don't mean to make you shit bricks, but I'm pretty sure that's the truth.

I lold.  Chancer is gonna flip when he sees this.  Why don't they just admit this is a piracy forum.  Im tired of all these people saying use this site to help backup your games.  Rofl....

Seems you and a few others are still to blinkered to get it.
Nobody gives a shit what you do.
Do you know the meaning of the word subtle?
Being subtle when it comes to your posts means this forum does not draw unwanted attention. A lot of things on the internet are tolerated. People allow things to exist that may bend the straight line a little..providing you don't turn that into taking the piss and bending that straight line at angle.
Proclaim piracy from the great heights, don't whisper or be subtle when you do. Let XS rejoice and it's members shout it from the tree tops! Let's see if we can make someone sit up and take notice!
What a great idea!!! Let's see the site shut down.
If you still don't understand subtle or why the rules here don't allow the celebration of piracy and free games for all, then you wasted your time reading them, as you don't understand the aim and the concept.
That is why, if you take it too far you will fall foul of the rules.
Like anything in life you have to know how far you can push something before it becomes a threat. The mods here know when that line is crossed.
The news pages are a separate entity from the forums and sometimes push the boundary further. The replication of them in here is in the hope that people can discuss this subtly.
Unfortunately some can not and others have no point to make other than to have a go at what XS does  or does not stand for. The public image of XS is set by Admin.  Instead of trying to alter that why not sit for a minute and think how easy it is to word your post so as to run in line with the rules.
