Yeah,i know about the via vt6421-i've bought it...you don't ground your ck3?Take a look in the modification disc, when you're in your os-there is a picture witch is showing something like that:

That image only applies to those who are making their own dumping cable, not CK3 owners with the Probe addon.
So, extra grounding is not necessary if you are using a CK3 w/Probe. (the CK3 is already grounded through the power connector)
Are you making sure you have the CK3 power connector plugged into your drive properly? (notches on connector line up)
When you are touching the Probe to the drive's motherboard are you sure you are touching the right spot?
Oh and yes, you will need to use the RS232 port and not the USB. The USB function of the CK3 does not work with my disc.

it's connected fine, just as mine was, no ground at all and flashed just fine and my pc is even older than yours
You know what's funny? I bet my personal 'modding machine' that I use for all my 360 modifications is one of the oldest ones on this forum. (in fact, sometimes older hardware is better when it comes to modding)
I use a Pentium 3 600Mhz PC w/256MB RAM, and I use my modding disc for all Lite-On/BenQ/Samsung mods.
I still use Windows XP on this machine for doing Hitachi drives though, perhaps one day my disc can also support Hitachi drives too.

just made an account here to thank frosty. very easy to use. i had 0 experience modding 360s and this was a breeze to follow. my benq works perfectly. to people trying this: read as much as you can about modding your 360 using the disc. reading all 3 threads about this modification disc in its entirety is a great way to prepare and anytime i hit a snag i knew what was wrong.
thank you very much!
Awesome dude, glad it's working so well for you!
I'm glad you took the time to read all the threads about my disc and studied up on modding in general before you attempted it, i'm sure it helped a lot.

I recommend all first-time modders to heed wetnurse's advice, reading up on modding before you do it is always a good thing.
