oh I am sorry it is a Benq I am flashing

and not sure about the groundwire thing, I am not sure how to do that...

It's easy, just take a wire and attach one end to any metal point on your PC case, and do the same with the other end of the wire on the 360's case. happy.gif

I have a flashed BenQ drive, but it is not the most up to date iXtreme firmware.  I just want to know if I would need to put the original firmware back on it before using your disc to update it or will your disc do everything that is needed to upgrade it?

I bought the CK3 Pro and have a VIA sATA card on the way, is that everything that I need?

Try updating the BIOS on your PC, then you should be good. (you can do this by going to Dell's website)

Your PC is new enough to work with my disc, you probably just need a BIOS update. happy.gif
Have you tried running a ground wire between the case on your 360 and the case on your PC?

Didn't work after BIOS update. Yea it's new enough to do some things on it, but I guess not boot up your disc. Figures...

Well, I wouldnt pass up frosty's disk just yet. The boot failure of the disk could be from several reasons....

1: Bad media. I had it happen to me before where I backed up some files on a cd-rw, but apon testing it, all files were corrupt, but the files on the HD were fine.

2: failing drive. The drive itself my not be burning properly anymore.

I would try different media, and if that doesnt help, try burning at a slower speed. If both cases fail, then I would look into the possibility that the burner itself is starting to die.

Well I'm sorry to inform you, but before you posted that I tried all those different methods. It isn't bad media, Verbatim (CD-R and CD-RW) was used, then Memorex (CD-R), Maxwell (CD-R), FujiFilm (DVD+RW). All burned from my Lite On LDW-411S, then verified. Failed to boot. Same routine burned with my NEC 6650A, then verified. Failed to boot.

I thought it was the a problem with my burner too, but any disc I make with my burner (Desktop) will read on my laptop and boot from that, but that doesn't help me since I don't have a SATA Card for my laptop. I'm just going to try a floppy disk, if I could find one that would F**KIN format.  grr.gif

Flashing or dumping?

Hanging/lockups are usually a sign of a finicky (i.e. failing/unreliable) flash chip on your 360 DVD drive.

Just wanted to say thanks FrostyTheSnowman! worked perfectly on my samsung m25 1.4 going to 1.51 with a VIA pci card. Very easy indeed!

ps. Holey moley is 12x loud.

Hey SuicideUZI, make sure you wait about 5-10 seconds after the xbox completely shuts off (ie. the light on the power supply is orange) - not just from when you press the power button - before you turn it on again. Hope that solves it, otherwise sad.gif i dunno
