Well, I wouldnt pass up frosty's disk just yet. The boot failure of the disk could be from several reasons....
1: Bad media. I had it happen to me before where I backed up some files on a cd-rw, but apon testing it, all files were corrupt, but the files on the HD were fine.
2: failing drive. The drive itself my not be burning properly anymore.
I would try different media, and if that doesnt help, try burning at a slower speed. If both cases fail, then I would look into the possibility that the burner itself is starting to die.
Well I'm sorry to inform you, but before you posted that I tried all those different methods. It isn't bad media, Verbatim (CD-R and CD-RW) was used, then Memorex (CD-R), Maxwell (CD-R), FujiFilm (DVD+RW). All burned from my Lite On LDW-411S, then verified. Failed to boot. Same routine burned with my NEC 6650A, then verified. Failed to boot.
I thought it was the a problem with my burner too, but any disc I make with my burner (Desktop) will read on my laptop and boot from that, but that doesn't help me since I don't have a SATA Card for my laptop. I'm just going to try a floppy disk, if I could find one that would F**KIN format.
