360 Modification Disc v1.53
« Reply #105 on: May 04, 2009, 05:18:00 PM »

@Wishy2K

So, let me make sure i've got this right...

You do the ENTER, Y, ENTER part, then you unplug the drive and reconnect it, then it shows it reading all 4 banks, then it asks you 'Did the firmware dump correctly?' and you answer Y or N and then it freezes, correct?

Have you tried using my disc with your PC's HDD disconnected?

Most freezing issues happen when the disc is saving the backup firmware on to the PC's HDD...

This issue should be resolved in the next release.

NOTE TO ALL USERS OF MY DISC:

I am currently looking for beta testers for '360 Modification Disc v1.6', contact me if you are interested. happy.gif

NOTE 2: I am specifically looking for only the users that have freezing issues/firmware backup issues.

When it shows the 'Status 0x7F' you are then supposed to disconnect the power connector from the back of your 360 dvd drive, then plug it back in and the dumping will start. happy.gif

Be careful after dumping though because you won't have a backup if you do it wrong. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly...

unrar the stuff and burn the iso, and don't burn it like you would burn any data like a *.avi or *.mp3
use the burn image stuff of your burning software.

hey, frosty, thanks for all your hardwork, I guess it's appreciated by many people.

I know you must be working hard on 1.6 right now but would you consider adding something for people who had their 360 flashed in 1.5 (with probe and all the stuff needed for liteon) and don't need any of these tools now to flash their 360 to 1.6

Indeed I am working hard, but the work is already done for the most part. I am just testing it out before release at the moment. 360 Modification Disc v1.6 will be released before midnight, mountain standard time.

As much as I would like to provide the option of upgrading Lite-On drives without the serial cable, it goes outside the scope/intent of this disc.

You see, if I provide the option of flashing the Lite-On drive in any way without the serial cable (even for previously flashed upgrades) then I can almost guarantee that MANY new/unexperienced modders (noobs/newbies if you will, although I hate using those words... everyone is a 'noob' at some point) would end up bricking their console by thinking that the serial cable is no longer necessary for virgin Lite-On drives.

Perhaps in the future, but for now I need to require the serial cable for all Lite-On drives to protect new/unexperienced modders.  wink.gif

Man isn't that is the truth.  i can just see it now...."OMG I lost my key to the dvd drive!  I didn't know it wasn't modded before? My friend told me he modded it before. Whoops."  People never measure twice before they cut ....it seems.  Frosty you should keep that sanity check in there that prevents the drive from getting erased unless they first have the serial cable connected. Good job. I know about the noobs. I will be checking out your new mod disc when it becomes available.

my little xtractor, probe or whatever does not seem to work anymore so I'm looking for a way to upgrade my lite-on with ix 1.5 to ix 1.6...I've never used your disc before but is there any way to use your disc and upgrade my firmware?  I still have all my key drives saved from jungleflasher...I just want something to get the job done until I buy another key extractor..

I haven't used this disc since 1.50, because that disc worked fine with the 1.51 firmware for me, but I am VERY interested in an update to this with 1.6 on the disc -- tried looking to see if I could replace the firmwares on the disc to a no-go. Can't wait for the update (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

This is my favorite way to flash 360 drives, hands down. Hope the new version is out soon, even if it's just 1.53 with the 1.6 firmware (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)

360 Modification Disc v1.6 is out!

You can find it in the 'usual places'. biggrin.gif

Sorry about the 3-hour late release, I wanted to be 100% sure that the new iXtreme v1.6 firmware worked perfectly with all 3 drives on my disc. Better late then never though, right? happy.gif

Enjoy!

NOTE: BenQ & Samsung firmware display the correct version of iXtreme v1.6 firmware in FIRMTOOL, but the Lite-On iXtreme firmware does not (it simply shows nothing but the drive model, no firmware version is displayed during the FIRMTOOL part for Lite-On drives). This is a known issue with the Lite-On iXtreme v1.6 firmware itself, but rest assured, the Lite-On modification process works 100% and will modify your Lite-On drive with the correct version of iXtreme v1.6 as it should. biggrin.gif

Hi Frosty,

I have a question.
My benq drive died.  I have my files from using your disc.
Can I buy a replacement benq and somehow use those files to restore it?
IF so, can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

I am in fact a n00b, when it comes to flash, but it was just for me and a friend, I don't want to pay again 67$ (50€) after just 2 month, once again (because of wave 3...)
I'll just use something else to do it then.
I get your point though. I don't want to get in the business, anyway, I know that modders are some kind of specialists (well at least most of them  wink.gif )
keep up the good work. happy.gif

Frosty,

Got a question for you. It's my first time modding my xbox360 and would like to ask u for a step-by-step advice. I have a lite-on DG-16D2S pre-modded with ixtreme1.5 which i bought from a shop. Is it possible for me to use your disc to mod my drive? I have the VIA6421 sata card but no probe. Can i still mod my drive without a probe? Thanks and good job... you sure make modding easier
