1. okay so right first of all i'm wondering can it be done using a DOS Bootable USB Flash drive?

2. what files would be needed in order for it to load hdhackr in DOS mode e.g.

HP USB Storage Tool
systemfiles for 98se or ME // or would it have to be a standalone DOS have tried 6.22 but doesn't like anything thats not a floppy
HDhackr 0.91
HDDss.bin

3. how do you set ur BIOS up to detect the new bootable drive you've made

#1. Yes. I do it.

#2. I just use iPrep to make the USB bootable. Copy hddhackr and hddssbin onto the USB.

#3. Just chance the Boot Priority. It may come up as the name of your USB or just "Removal Media". For me, if Removal Media is selected it won't boot. My mobo is an Asus P5K Pro. I have to go into Boot Settings Configuration and make sure that my USB (where it is displayed by it's proper name, Cruzer M3 or w/e) is #1 in the list. I then go back into the Boot Priority and select my USB name instead of "Removal Media".

Also for some reason, for me anyway, if I have a My Computer window open viewing the USB files, and I try and run iPrep on it, it does not make it bootable. I need to close the window and try it again. I don't think it copies all the files.

Also again! Change your SATA mode to IDE and Enhanced, Compatible or Disabled (options on my mobo). For me the Compatible setting worked.

HTH.
