Here is my first post. I hope this topic could give someone a help.
Yesterday I got a used WD12000BEVS 75LAT0 for my XBOX. I tired flashing it on three different south bridge chip mother board, no lucky at all. Get error "EC sector count was not found in the FW".
And I speed more than three hours try to find a solution on google, nothing help. And I see lots of people get same problem, changing to another HD is a only way.
So, I using my knowledge (very old knowledge, almost 15 years ago done a project about HDD writing and reading ) to find out what really happen for this error.
The truth is the total sector does not match the factory setting (think about the loptop computer always have a hidden partition for system restore or something like that). So now fixing will very easy.
Following steps, you will get a 360 HD:
1. Mount HD to a computer as second HD.
2. Boot to windows.
3. Go to
hddguru.com download HDD Capacity Restore Tool and install it.
4. Run it, you will see a list of HDs.
5. Select WD12000BEVS, you will see the size is different with FW.
6. Fix it.
7. Shut down computer.
Then follow HDDHackr manual flash you HD.
I tried on intel, VIA, SIS and nForce4, they are all working very well.
If this could help you, I will very happy.
Sorry my poor English.
Well I have a WD BEVS-00UST0 Drive and I have tried to flash this drive with a 6421 Sata Board plus my own 8237 chipset on my Mobo and I just bought a Sil 3511 chipset PCMIA card for my Laptop but I guess it doesn't work in DOS because it will not see any drive. So now I bought a Sil 3511 chipset and its on the way. I will say I just flashed 2 - 22UST0 drives perfectly with my 8237 chipset. But this 00UST0 driver will not work for anything and I tried your restore program with no luck. Any answers?
