360 Modification Disc v1.5
« Reply #75 on: February 01, 2009, 10:03:00 PM »

QUOTE(jbluford @ Feb 1 2009, 06:49 AM) *

I have a quick question.

I currently have the via vt6421 pci to sata card.

Is it possible to flash a lite on drive (or any of the others for that matter) with this disc using the maximus 360 xtractor and spear?

If not, what else would I need to be able to flash the drives with this disc?

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Okay, the disc is back up and available for download.

The only changes made to it was an added warning note about properly loading NTFS4DOS at the beginning of the disc by properly typing in the full word 'yes' at the prompt. This is a requirement of the NTFS4DOS application, it unfortunately cannot be changed.

Just to ease everyone's mind, I can confirm that this disc is working properly with all three drives. (Samsung/BenQ/Lite-On all work perfectly)

Some side notes:

If you are getting a 'bad command' after loading NTFS4DOS, this most likely means that the DOS CD-ROM driver did not support your PC CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, which would cause this error. A good sign of this being the case is that after NTFS4DOS loads you should be sitting at an 'X:\>' prompt. If this prompt is anything different, then your PC CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is most likely not supported by my disc. This most likely would happen if you are using a SATA CD/DVD-ROM drive in a non-IDE compatible mode. (AHCI) If you can change this setting in your BIOS to be IDE compatible it will work.

Also, to those wondering, yes, this disc includes everything necessary to mod all three drives, with the exception of the needed 'serial cable' for the Lite-On drives.

So, in short, PLEASE PLEASE read every line of the instructions on the disc before continuing to the next screen. I.E. 'y' is not the same as 'yes' to the NTFS4DOS application, the full word 'yes' is all it will accept.

Disc is back up and available for download, have fun! happy.gif

My date might show that this nick joined in 2007, however that does not mean that I have not been around since long before that. Proposing that Slayer's Autoinstaller's users lack intelligence is quite ridiculous as well. Thus, now that we use such disc as Frosty's means we are retards?

Geez, get a grip.

Whatever makes our life easier is more than welcome...

I think he was indicating that he didn't need to rely on an auto-installer disk. To be perfectly honest, you really shouldn't need to use one for 360 drives. There are tutorials left right and centre and for first time flashers I would be far happy if they took the time to read up on the process involved before embarking on it. The same goes for any auto installer disc - including Slayers.

FrostyTheSnowman, I haven't tried the disk out, but thank you because it seems like a godsend. I do the mods for my friends (I became "that guy") and it got so impossible to keep up with all the stuff needed to mod each individual drive.

The only questions I guess I have is:

I heard dvdkey16 isn't stable at dumping the proper Lite-On key. Obviously your program will be using dvdkey16 instead of 32. Was just wondering if this is still an issue.

Second, does it matter if the C: (the NTFS hard drive) is SATA? Is it better for it to be IDE? I ask because I wouldn't have the SATA hard drive on the VIA chipset port (I use that $15 Syba card for my 360 modding) so I'd assume your program would not detect an SATA hard drive. Just want to be sure.  Thanks!

Both SATA and IDE hard drives work fine, you might need to tweak the settings in your BIOS to make your SATA HDD IDE compatible though if it does not detect the first time.

Also, your SATA/IDE HDD should be connected to your motherboard preferably, not the VT6421 card. I use the Syba VT6421 card too (the $15 one you can buy on Newegg.com) and it works great for me. happy.gif

P.S. I know how ya feel man, I became 'that guy' like 5 years ago with the original XBOX, and I became 'that guy' for the 360 about 2 years ago... it's a huge pain in the ass isn't it? I even used to offer RRoD repairs to people for $40 here locally here in Utah until it literally drove me insane, especially when I would have to repair the same damn 360 more than once... (damn unreliable 360s... grumble, grumble) that's why I made this disc, to make the process easier on guys like you and me and also to make it easier for first-timers too. happy.gif

My disc does not use DvdKey16, it uses DosFlash16 to dump the key, which AFAIK works correctly.

Ah, very cool. I didn't know all it took was for my BIOS to see it. I thought maybe your CD loaded the drivers or something. You know how on older Windows XP CDs it won't detect a SATA drive during setup? I thought that would have been a problem with your CD.

Yeah man it's nuts. The worst is when you do it for a friend and you break the system. Not only did you spend your free time on them but now you OWE them money. Sucks ass but when it comes time to get my car repaired or my house painted it's all good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The cause is more likely your own inability to use the disc or follow the instructions.
Don't blame the disc without giving full facts.

Bollocks,

i didnt say slayers users lack intellegence, what i said was i had the intellegnce to want to LEARN how somthing works, how can you fix somthing when it goes wrong if all you no is how to burn and boot a slayers disk. In the good old days of the original xbox there was hardly a day that went by with out a new app or media player/center being updated. this making the oh so clever slayers disk that you downloaded, useless.  surely making a Evox boot disk and learning how to install and keep up to date all you new programs and emulators would be better.

Also i dont actually see what relevence this disk has to slayers, its a completly differnet thing all together.

Back on subject...

I know how to flash drives manually, but i do use these disks for ease of use and speed, so good work frosty and Thanks
