360 Modification Disc v1.5
« Reply #45 on: February 01, 2009, 09:31:00 AM »

Hello everyone. I have a few questions about this.
Basically I modded my XBox 360 about a year and a half ago by flashing it ect...

I just wondered how much further this has got? becuase I'm thinking of modding my elite xbox but not sure where to start. Is this disk a complete resource or do I need other things?

Thank You,
Sonnyb123

Do i need to put a different hard drive in my comp formatted to NTSC or can i just leave my normal harddrive in and it will create folders.  or will it erase my files or corrupt something?

Use your own methods then. Before you start slagging someone off check on what they have done previously. the guy does not have to prove anything to you.

Well said m8 , I could not have put it better myself.

I think this app will come in very handy for a lot of guy`s  who are unsure or worried about flashing
there drive`s and this should make there tasks all but bulletproof.   biggrin.gif

Thank you again Frosty & all the people involved in the creation of this fine app.

Regards

Frosty awsome job!! thank you very much ive been waiting for someone to release somthing like this. just 1 question though you say you recomend using  the ck3 lite because of the serial connection but i have a ck3 pro and i thought this also had a serial connection aswell as usb, is this ok to use or will the serial connection not work with the pro??

If the CK3 Pro offers both Serial and USB, then yes, it should work fine. Just be sure to use the serial side with my disc. happy.gif

In the midst of all these questions and whatnot I wanted to give the developer a thank you. I tried to use it this morning. It is a really good easy to use tool. I seem to have an issue where my Sam drive never gets recognized after the port opens and I get that 9000oa thing. It never does read that the xbox was powercycled. It's done this with many different versions of different programs. The first one to work lately was the latest Iprep. I get that whole "random number = random number, should be 70" or whatever.

SO, the point is, while I didn't get it to work on my pc, I'm sure it will work fine for others and it's a great little easy to use compilation. Congrats to you and thank you for your work! I appreciate when people take the time to make things easier.

Looks like a great tool, unfortunately my DVD drive isn't detected in DOS, so all I get is the RAMDISK files and none of the 360 files.
I've seen this quite a few times with other Tools running from boot CD, eg Hirens BootCD etc.
I might try modifying the files to run from USB Stick, shouldn't be too hard, you've included everything I need smile.gif

I have a crazy Dell by the way!!

1. Everyone uses NTFS (Windows 2000/XP/Vista), unless you are using Windows 98, Millenium (god forbid), or Linux. File accessing and permissions are less important, NTFS just seemed to be the logical choice for compatibility. Although, this disc does still support FAT & FAT32 filesystems too.

2. NTFS4DOS, a resident memory driver that allows read/write access to NTFS partitions within DOS.

3. CD-Rs are easily burnable, most newbies are not knowledgeable on the creation of bootable flash drives. Also, if your BIOS doesn't allow DOS booting off a CD-R, your machine is probably not capable of modding anyway.

great job on the disk, definitely the slickest way so far to do this

Probably your directory name for saving the files is too long.

When my disc prompts you to enter a name for the directory, make sure it is only 8 characters long. (this is an MS-DOS restriction)

This is a note I forgot to add into the menus on my disc, it will be added into the next release.

If the dump fails to complete DO NOT CONTINUE, the next step erases the drive... there is no error scripting for a non-existent ORIG.BIN file, the script WILL erase your drive if you continue after a failed dump...

Are you sure you typed 'yes' at the NTFS4DOS screen?

Do you have a 'BENFILES' folder on your C: drive?

There should be a folder within that folder with your original firmware...

I have pulled my disc off the XBINS site temporarily until I can confirm BenQ does work. It will be back up within 45 minutes.

I typed 'y'. I will look on my main PC now to see if the file is there. If it is what shall I do? put the original back on or try again with the xtreme?
