First off, in my rush to get back to Left 4 Dead and continue the zombie body count I forgot to give props to reycarp for leading me in the right direction. Many thanks reycarp (IMG:

Felita,
Not sure exactly how you are connecting the 360 hdd to your pc, but here's what I did:
Using a newer HP desktop pc with windows Vista Home Premium, I:
1. Took my 360 hdd case apart and removed the drive. Placed it aside.
2. Powered down my pc, removed power plug. Hit power button to clear power supply.
3. Opened my side desktop panel to access the internal sata ports.
4. Unhooked the sata cables from my dvd drive, connected them to my 360 hdd.
(one cable was a 15 pin sata for power, the other smaller sata for data transfer)
5. Placed the 360 drive, now hooked up to both cables, in a safe position - resting on the bundled wires.
(careful not to let it touch the case, motherboard, or other devices)
6. Replaced power plug & powered up the pc. (its ok to leave access panel open).
7. Turned off the UAC and rebooted.
8. Opened the Xport 360 file folder, right clicked and chose 'run as administrator' to open Xport 360.
9. It recognized my 360 hdd as the only drive found.
10. Using Xport, navigated to the destination folder on my 360 hdd and drag/dropped the modded file.
11. Powered down pc, following step #2 (above).
12. Unhooked sata cables from 360 hdd (placed it aside) and reconnected them to my dvd drive.
13. Replaced the side access panel on my desktop, reconnected the power plug and rebooted.
14. Reassembled the 360 hdd and case & hooked it back up the the Xbox 360.
15. Fired up L4D (play from hd) and was happy to see the mod & method worked.
Note: I had tried the above once before without success. After trying it again (step by step) a second time it worked and has worked for me 3 more times. Not sure why, but it didn't work the first time I rebooted. I checked my connections to the 360 hdd to make sure they were ok & rebooted again. It worked fine then. The whole process is trial and error and doesn't work for everybody the same way.
I spent many hours trying to get a clue as to what to do when I could have been playing the game instead. But after getting it to work, the game has replay value like never before.
Good Luck!
