60gb Hdd Toshiba With Xplorer360/xport360
« Reply #15 on: March 23, 2009, 01:07:00 AM »

I found this:

Are you using the Xport PC software, a Windows Vista based computer and are you able to view the contents of your console’s HDD but are unable to drag/drop data to your console’s HDD? Even the same data which you can drag/drop from your console’s HDD as you are shown a no entry symbol?

Possible Solution –

To resolve this problem you may need to turn off User Account Control (UAC) on your computer. To do so please follow the steps below:

Select ‘Control Panel’ from within your start menu.
On the shown screen select User Accounts.
You may at this point be shown a message which states ‘Windows needs your permission to continue’, select ‘Continue’.
On the shown screen select ‘Turn User Account Control on or off’.
On the shown screen unselect the option ‘Use User Account Control (UAC)’ and select ‘OK’.
After selecting OK you will be prompted if you want to restart now or later to apply the changes, either select ‘Restart Now’ or ‘Restart Later’ but you will need to restart before the change has an effect.
After you have restarted try again to drag/drop data to your console’s HDD.
If you find after following the above steps that the problem remains please can you contact us and supply the below information -

Confirm that you have tried to follow the steps within this article.
Can you confirm the version of the Xport PC software that you are using for example v2.00?
Can you confirm if you are using a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows Vista?

I have version 2.00 for Xport 360 but it will not notice the 60gb harddrive in the program.( That means no device is popping up to select).  As for Xplorer 360 the newest version notices it but nothing is located in Partition 3.  Not sure what to do.  Any help?

I dl Xport v2_03 from the codejunkies site http://us.codejunkies.com/support/article....?article_id=272 and was able to view all of the partitions on my 60gb drive and drag/drop the user settings file for Left 4 Dead onto my desktop.

I followed the L4D mod tool tut and everything was going super awesome until I tried to drag/drop the file back into Xport360.  Still a no go.  Windows Vista of course, fully updated in all its glory.

I've changed my admin settings, rebooted, tried opening the latest versions of Xplorer and Xport at the same time, and am still sol on getting the modded file inserted.

Xploerer360 allows me to see partition 3, but its still empty, just like in the previous version.  I've gone to countless threads in many different forums and viewed more than a few videos on how it 'should' work.  I know I'll get punk'd by somebody still using XP, but since I'm stuck with Vista I figured I'd 'bump' the subject.

Any progress out there?  Thx...

Finally got it.  Didn't work the first time around, but after rebooting a second time and running the latest Xport version as administrator and using the following as a guide (straight from the codejunkies site), pause for breath, I was able to use the drag/drop feature:

Hi.

I installed Windows Vista. I installed Xport360 v2.0.3. and I unselected the option ‘Use User Account Control (UAC)’, rebooting after. I see in Control Panel > Device Manager > Disk Units and Xbox HD is here (Hitachi HTS542560........).

Now, I run Xport360 and tell me "No Xbox 360 device or images loaded". Ok, I try again, but now with Xplorer360 beta6. I can open the disk, but partition 3 is complitly empty.

I'm using minispy and connecting HD to PC by SATA or USB, but is impossible. How is possible? What I'm doing wrong?

Please, I need somebody help me.

Thanks and regards.

First off, in my rush to get back to Left 4 Dead and continue the zombie body count I forgot to give props to reycarp for leading me in the right direction.  Many thanks reycarp  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Felita,

Not sure exactly how you are connecting the 360 hdd to your pc, but here's what I did:

Using a newer HP desktop pc with windows Vista Home Premium, I:

1.   Took my 360 hdd case apart and removed the drive.  Placed it aside.
2.   Powered down my pc, removed power plug.  Hit power button to clear power supply.
3.   Opened my side desktop panel to access the internal sata ports.
4.   Unhooked the sata cables from my dvd drive, connected them to my 360 hdd.
(one cable was a 15 pin sata for power, the other smaller sata for data transfer)
5.   Placed the 360 drive, now hooked up to both cables, in a safe position - resting on the bundled wires.
(careful not to let it touch the case, motherboard, or other devices)
6.   Replaced power plug & powered up the pc. (its ok to leave access panel open).
7.   Turned off the UAC and rebooted.
8.   Opened the Xport 360 file folder, right clicked and chose 'run as administrator' to open Xport 360.
9.   It recognized my 360 hdd as the only drive found.
10. Using Xport, navigated to the destination folder on my 360 hdd and drag/dropped the modded file.
11. Powered down pc, following step #2 (above).
12. Unhooked sata cables from 360 hdd (placed it aside) and reconnected them to my dvd drive.
13. Replaced the side access panel on my desktop, reconnected the power plug and rebooted.
14. Reassembled the 360 hdd and case & hooked it back up the the Xbox 360.
15. Fired up L4D (play from hd) and was happy to see the mod & method worked.

Note:  I had tried the above once before without success.  After trying it again (step by step) a second time it worked and has worked for me 3 more times.  Not sure why, but it didn't work the first time I rebooted.  I checked my connections to the 360 hdd to make sure they were ok & rebooted again.  It worked fine then.  The whole process is trial and error and doesn't work for everybody the same way.

I spent many hours trying to get a clue as to what to do when I could have been playing the game instead.  But after getting it to work, the game has replay value like never before.

Good Luck!

I have a 60GB Hitachi drive and after some unsuccessful back and forth with Codejunkies support they released Xport version 2.06 (download from official website codejunkies.com) which detected my drive.

I should warn that it's a bit buggy but at least it works!
