Unfortunately I haven't been able to give it a second go since it's been the holiday season.  Hoping to get a chance to try again after I go to sleep with my friend's desktop.  We previously tried it out on a pc with a sata controller card and that's when we got the error.
I'll be sure to post here if we figure it out.

Did you try going into the system BIOS and setting SATA to Legecy or something like that?  I had the same problem and it was a SATA setting.

Check out http://tech.redcat.us for some more xbox 360 had drive upgrade instructions.

Guys,  I have found this to be an issue with the SATA contoller on the motherboard your using.  If you can't get your motherboard into 'Legacy' mode your only alternative is to try another SATA controller.  I was having this same problem and I went through 3 different computers until I hooked it up to my current one and that's when it allowed me to flash the drive.

So try a different computer if you can or go buy a SATA add-in card.  That should work for you.

Let me know how this works out for you.

I'm having this same issue with a WD2500BEVS-00UST0.  I have two SATA controllers and hddhackr doesn't even detect the drive in one and I get the drive not supported in the other.  I'll give it a go at work tomorrow, but I'm not very hopeful.  This drive has a date of Nov 23 2008, so maybe it's just too new for hddhackr?  I don't know, but I'm pretty disappointed.

Just to update my previous post, I tried this morning and eventually got it to work.  hddhackr couldn't find the drive in AHCI mode or Legacy mode, but it detected it ATA mode.  It was also able to flash it.  Rebooted and ran it again to confirm and it looks good.  Looks like I have a fun project for this weekend.   smile.gif

ok friends listen very carefully becouse my english it is not so good the only thing you make wrong is that you do not open the hddhackr program with one hex editor ....
so doit open the hddhackr with one hexeditor program and in the last line on the program in the end go delete the 8 last bit they must be something like that "   AD 0F  09 14 E4 A9 3F  " <-- this is an example
so go and delete the last 8 you will make something like that   " AD 0F 09 "  after doing that  go and put your sata numner my sata number is b400 so make something like that  " AD 0F 09 B4 00 " and save it ... and try all the procces  again .... i hope to help ..

I have the same issue as the CellzDK (EC Bios String not found in Firmware) and I tried your suggestion. It didn't work! I am still waiting for suggestions.

I had a vary of issues and errors and no matter what I tried / Hex Edit etc.... whatever it still wouldn't work on my setup so I just used another PC and it worked like a charm.... I was told that some controllers make the errors / flashes invalid and throw a vary of different errors....

So just try another PC.... It should work! My setup was a Dell Dimesion 2400 w/ VIA Raid Sata Card = FAIL....

Till I took it in to work with me the next day and viola it worked w/ the onboard sata on my Dell GX160 @ work...

No Hex Editin needed at all!
