Is your pc set to boot from USB ?

I used the HP boor disk utility and it worked fine. The way i did it i downloaded the windows 98 bootdisk OEM from http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and then extracted it with winrar. I then downloaded winimage and used it to extract the files out of the IMA file and got the HP usb program to use those files to make the stick bootable.

EDIT: When you extract boot98.exe with winrar it will give you an error but just ignore it.

I used windows enabler to let me format the usb as a boot disk natively, then copied all the files (including hidden files) to a temp directory, then used the hp usb utility to make it a boot disk.

here is what i would personally recommend.

get a copy of iprep, and let that format your thumbdrive. put hddhackr on the root directory of the thumbdrive (don't delete anything).

boot off the drive, and when it says "do you agree to these terms", say no.

you will be dropped to dos and can do hddhackr -f

he is doing 100% the right thing. he is trying to upgrade his harddrive, hence, he would flash his harddrive with the hddhackr tool.

i'm not sure whats causing that error message though. i haven't seen it. are you definitely using a compatible harddrive? what is the full model number?

I have Western Digital Scorpio  WD1200BEVS - 00RST0

i trying to hack by all versions of "the Specialist"

and the result :

with hddhackr-0.90 and hddhackr-0.91

the message was
Want to flash this firmware to make it compatible with sector 16 ? (y/n)yError !
drive not supported, make sure it a SATA WD Scorpio BEVS

and somebody told me you have to unplug all sata devices like the main Hard disk
only plug WD1200BVES and boot from DOS

i tried and the result was
Want to flash this firmware to make it compatible with sector 16 ? (y/n)y
Drive has no ID Data packet for us.

and i used hddhackr-0.82b and hddhackr-0.83

and it gave me this message
Want to flash this firmware to make it compatible with sector 16 ? (y/n)yFatal error, Not enough room in FW f or your Bios string.

i think  the first message which i wrote it in the first "Error !
drive not supported, make sure it a SATA WD Scorpio BEVS" it came because i didn't unplug the main computer hard disk

but the others (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
I don't know

Please help me Reaper527
and I'm happy because u r with me  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
